Course has potential, but needs work

Being a 27 hole layout close to Birmingham with a big club house already on site gives this course a ton of potential.. but it will take a lot of money to improve it. When I played, only 18 holes were open at a time (Blue-Red course). Some of the greens were in very good shape but others would have large bare spots. It is built into the side of a mountain so many of the cart parts feel like a roller coaster ride (hence the need for gas powered carts). I would gladly play the course again for the discounted tee time rate. The course is pretty short so it can be fun to play for beginners.

Great public course in a beautiful setting

The course is inside of Oak Mountain State Park so it makes for some nice scenery on most holes. Course conditions were great when I played. They have a driving range and putting/chipping greens right behind the club house.

Good value, exceeds expectations

This is a good municipal course and a good value. It does not look like much when you pull up in the parking lot, but the course is worth playing. Currently, they have two trailers as the pro shop, but they city of Dora has plans to build a clubhouse in the near future. This would be a very challenging course to walk (long and hilly). Driving range and putting green facilities are available.

Course worth playing

This course has always been a pretty good course, but has gotten even better in the last few years. Most of the trees on the course were knocked down during the 2011 tornados so it took a lot of work to get the course back in playing condition. The turf seems to be better now than it used to be. It plays very wide open so if you are prone to a hook or a slice, the ball will still be playable on most holes.

Good public option in Auburn

Me and some buddies used to play here a lot in college. With all the good courses in Auburn, this is a nice public value course option.
