We have played this course a number of times, but never quite like this. There was much needed rain throughout the round. Strangely enough my playing partner and I both had personal bests despite the rain. The course was in good condition despite the weather. No one else was playing so we were able to stop for lunch during the worst of it.
The front nine is a basic municipal course with houses and fences along many of the fairways. The back nine is along the Pacific Ocean and is really beautiful.
Cherry Island Golf Course
Played On 10/18/2013Straightforward good course
This was my first time playing Cherry Island and it was relatively easy to follow. The little maps on the score card were good. A little more signage between holes would be helpful.
As a bogey golfer I never felt overmatched by any hole. The course is fairly wide open, though there are a few narrow fairways on the back nine. The sand traps and greens are well maintained.
There is free cold water available every few holes - really welcome when it is hot.
Fun course.
The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch
Played On 8/18/2013Great place to play golf in Salinas
This is a beautiful course set in the farmland of Salinas. It is not a long course, but is challenging in that precise shots are required in many places. Non of the difficulty feels forced. There are lots of different kinds of holes, including a wonderful par 3 where the green is several hundred feet below the tee.
The greens are very fast, but the ball rolls true on all of them. Everything is very well maintained.
