Woodside Golf Course
Played On 07/15/2018A gem of a course in Lansing
The condition of this course is OUTSTANDING. When you have the grounds crew of Eagle Eye and Hawk keeping Woodside's grounds as well, you're going to be in for a treat.
My golfing partner and I walk the course, you know it's 12 holes, right? It's a great walking course. Nothing too steep to climb.
There could be a little more water on the course to drink. I bring my own so it doesn't bother me, but it would be a long round if it was as hot as it was today and no water. Thank God for the beverage cart!
Walnut Hills Country Club
Played On 09/03/2016Long but really nice
This course is probably one of the longest tracks I play on a semi regular basis. It's probably a bit too long with long irons for most of my second shots.
The greens are tricky, fairly quick and the sand is WONDERFUL. ( I was in it enough, I should know)
It's unforgiving but terrific. Play it if you can. It's in great shape.
Redwood Golf Course
Played On 07/24/2015a nice little track
This would be a good course to play as a beginner or someone who is just looking to get out. it's in pretty decent shape. Not a lot of sand or water (enough for me to find a bit though).
it was a perfect course for a fun round, two person scramble. Rates were reasonable and the course is in good shape, MUCH better than the 3 who had played it remembered it to be in.
Small greens though. You need to be spot on with your short game
The Medalist Golf Club
Played On 07/03/2015Like a Northern MI resort course
This course, at times is just like playing resort courses up north..... without that pesky drive. It's a terrific track that has some punishing greens. You really need to focus on your play around the pin.
I love this course... it's about an hour drive from the house and worth it.
I went thru a LOT of golf balls!
Groesbeck Golf Course
Played On 07/28/2014First time in a long time
I haven't played this course in years. It was renovated (the course not the facilities) quite a while ago but I just thought of playing here due to the great rate I got at Golf Now.
The elevation changes are the biggest surprise here, many blind shots to the greens. The course is in pretty good shape but the tee boxes aren't!
It was fun to play here again, it's been a very long time.
PohlCat Golf Course
Played On 07/05/2014What a gem of a course
This is a terrific golf course. We drove an hour to play the Pohlcat and I'd do it again today! Fantastic in every way, great condition, superb greens, we saw a couple deer, one with a fawn. Just wonderful
It's not too hard and it's not too easy, just right.
Meridian Sun Golf Club
Played On 05/31/2014A quick way to get 18 holes in
We only live five minutes from Meridian Sun, so when I saw a great deal, I jumped on it. We got out with no one in front of us and just flew around the course. If we hadn't stopped at the turn for a quick snack we may have gotten this round in in just over 3 hours.
It's a good little course, and getting better all the time. The owner took it over when it was real rough and he's done a terrific job. It will never be Augusta but for the money, we love this place.
Falcon Golf Course
Played On 05/17/2014a great walking course
This is a nine hole course that is a great walk. It is so lush the ground is like a sponge. Fabulous for stretching out your calves while you're pushing your cart. I like the walk. It's an executive course, no par 5s. I play from the blue just to add a bit of length and work on my hybrids. I need a lot of work.
they have no facilities here at all. It's a shack basically. But we like it.
Woodside Golf Course
Played On 05/11/201412 holes of golf at a nine hole price
Woodside opened their last 3 holes making this a 12 hole course. It's perfect.. like 3 free holes of golf.
We love this course but their 'clubhouse' is a small shack. We just show up and go play anyway, so it's not a big deal.
Arbor Hills Golf Club
Played On 9/28/2013Old time golf
This is a fantastic old time golf course, tees very close to the greens, tree lined fairways, smallish greens, only a few traps around the greens. The way golf used to be way back when.
We loved this course. It's tight! Put your driver back in the bag for most of the round. I loved the greens, nice condition and a nice break. I'd play this course again and again.
Bonus, one of the best tasting apples I've ever picked 'in the wild' was on the back nine. Sweet and tart and juicy and flat out terrific!
Executive Nine at Cascades Golf Course
Played On 8/24/2013For a muni course Cascades is great
This is a terrific course. I've heard for years how nice it was and I can't believe it took me so long to play it. The greens are really nice. Some elevation changes but nothing earth shattering.
Ideal for so so golfers like me and my golfing wife who isn't bad but isn't great.
One hole has two greens with two holes with two flags I have no idea why.
Brookshire Inn & Golf Club
Played On 6/30/2013a tale of two nines
the front nine, much newer than the original course is wide open for the most part, but still a challenge. The original nine is very tight with a premium placed on an accurate shot. Distance isn't all that important.
Right now the mosquitos are a challenge
The East at Forest Akers Golf Course
Played On 5/14/2013Backed up into a league
We booked a twosome at Akers East and play went well on the front nine, but on the back we backed into league play and the second nine dragged a great deal. I guess I thought there weren't leagues going off when we got a 3:16 tee time. I was wrong.
Akers East is a good course, not nearly as daunting as the West course. A nice challenge, not too tight. Two of the holes, one on the front and one back are torn up. 18 amounts to a putt putt hole without the windmill as it's now a Par 3 distance that we skipped since it was so backlogged. It helped to keep our scores down!
