Pacific Grove Golf Links
Played On 10/03/2020Might as well change to a Country Club
Let me first say that I have played PG many times. However, since COVID19, the course has gotten so much play that you need to set aside 5 hours, and that’s unacceptable. Couple that with the lack of available tee times because of all the “clubs” that play there - Men’s, Sr. Men’s, Ladies, etc who have blocks of tee times, and good luck trying to get a decent time. Recently I tried to book 8 days out, and the only time available was 4:40. This, coupled with the grumpiness of the front desk - and you get the picture. Yes, the greens are great, fairways OK - but it;s time for Monterey pines to open back up to the public!!
Quail Lodge Resort & Golf Club
Played On 10/28/2019Best kept secret
Lived here over 8 years, finally played Quail today. With the exception of a few fairways that were in process of being punched, course was in great shape. The greens are some of the best on the peninsula, fast and smooth. Played in under 4 hours, great day.
Monterey Pines Golf Club
Played On 09/18/2018Always good
Greens were in usual great shape. Played in under 4 hours. Really good deal online
Pacific Grove Golf Links
Played On 06/24/2018Always good, but....
Have not played at PG golf Links for about 5 months - course was the usual. Greens rolled true, played early so no wind. The only problem was on the back nine where we had a five some that turned into 6. I called the course and they had a marshal out there in 10 minutes! Great course, just hate slow play.
Laguna Seca Golf Club
Played On 05/19/2018Better shape
Haven't played here for over 6 months, mainly because of the greens & bunkers. Greens are the best I have seen them in over a year, and they have put a lot more sand in the bunkers. Dewsweeper, 3 hour round!
Riverside of Fresno Golf Course
Played On 02/04/2016Goat Ranch
Sorry, not sure if because of all the rains or what - save your $$ and play somewhere else. Fairways unmowed, and alot of bare spots. Really not worth the money. Was surprised they charged what they did, not even worth $10 / round.
The Olympic at Gold Mountain Golf Course
Played On 10/16/2015Beautiful Course
What a great course in the Pacific Northwest. For October, tremendous shape, true greens. No two holes alike, challenging and a must stop anytime in Seattle area.
Pacific Grove Golf Links
Played On 07/24/2015Haven't played here for over 6 months
Have not made the trip out to PG because of work schedule, used to play monthly at the course. Course was in terrific shape, especially the greens. Will make part of my regular rotation. Not as challenging as Bayonet or Blackhorse, but a fun track. 2 distinct nines, wind along the back makes shot selection important.
Napa Golf Course at Kennedy Park
Played On 12/26/2014Too much rain
Course was almost unplayable. Was surprised they let carts out on course - not cart path only. Should have paid us to play, and do not know why the pro shop didn't say anything before we teed off. Too wet to mow fairways - alot of standing water and mud. Not an enjoyable round at all.
The Bayonet at Bayonet/Black Horse Golf Course
Played On 08/01/2014Great shape as usual
Didn't plan to play, but saw a great rate on line and could not pass it up. Anytime you can play either Bayonet or Blackhorse for less than $40, you jump at it. Played Bayonet, course was in great shape, although the greens were slower than usual. Under 4 hours, good pace and staff is always great. One of the best tracks on the peninsula.
San Juan Oaks Golf Club
Played On 06/06/2014Great course, but very windy in afternoon
Second time i have played this course - was in great shape. The only regret is that I had a 3PM tee time - and it was extremely windy. Staff said that from June - August the winds kick up in the afternoon. that was an understatement. Only played 9 - ball moving on the greens. Again, course is in Great shape, Great staff - just play here in teh morning.
Monterey Pines Golf Club
Played On 04/13/2014Slowest play in Monterey
I have played here many times. The greens are always in great shape, but it will be a while before I play there again. Walked off after 9 holes because of the slow play. 2 hours and 45 minutes - the group ahead of us was playing like it was Augusta. Not a marshall in site.
Stopped by clubhouse on way to my car - Pro Shop apologized, still ridiculous.
Hate slow play - you should be able to make an 8 on a hole just as fast as you can make a 4.
The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch
Played On 04/10/2014Can't wait to come back
Have lived in Monterey area for last 3 years, played all the courses - finally played here. Unfortunately, they just punched and sanded the greens. I played with a member as well as another golfer who plays here alot. Although the greens were slow and sandy, I could tell in a couple weeks - they will be great. Used all clubs in the bag, played in 3.5 hours. Friendly staff.
Laguna Seca Golf Club
Played On 6/22/2013Sand traps need work
Played here many times. Pace of play last time was embarrassing. SIX PLUS hours, no Marshall in site - make sure if you play on weekend that your tee time is before 7:30. Also, sand traps do not need water - please fix the sprinklers so the traps do not get hard packed - small rocks visible.
Monterey Pines Golf Club
Played On 6/15/2013Always in great shape
Played here many times- always in great shape. The pace of play however was really slow this time - where's the Marshall?
