Acton Golf Club
Played On 10/23/2020Sloppy Mess
Course had damp areas at the best of times but it was a muddy sloppy mess today. 10th hole is basically unplayable. Tee boxes a mess. Greens not bad. Fairways a soggy disaster.
Paid $45 walking which was too much. Golf North raises rates on Fridays. How about a Fall season rate?
Grand Niagara Golf Club - The Rees Jones Course
Played On 10/09/2020Absolutely Loved It! You've Got to Play This One!
First time playing Grand Niagara going in October of the year. As we drove up to the first tee my mouth dropped ... Wow! What a beautiful course and so well maintained. As other reviewers have noted, it reminds one of nicer courses in the southern US. Many of the greens appear to "mounded" with numerous deep sand bunkers protecting them. Several different tee boxes available so choose your overall course length wisely. Although busy, it felt like we were by ourselves on many holes. Our day was nice but it must have rained recently as the course was quite saturated ... no run out on tee shots. Keep it in play and you should score OK. Aesthetically very beautiful. You've got to play this one! Round cost about $80 including power cart.
Acton Golf Club

I play Acton a couple of times per year. I know it’s a country course so keep that in mind. A lot of holes are quite tight with lots of water, so iron accuracy is important. Greens are small. Most tee boxes were a disaster (as in no grass left) but this is later in the season. As with all Golf North courses you seem to pay a higher rate than what the course provides. Ariss Valley is cheaper for example. Always busy.
Ariss Valley Golf and Country Club - Lakes Course
Played On 08/12/2020Slipped a bit but still fun
Have written a review before. Still one of my favourite “country” courses. Good COVID precautions, but noticed the greens conditioning has slipped compared to previous years. Could have been the hot dry summer, but more bald patches and ball marks. Poorer conditions around the cups. Bunkers were excellent however. Tee boxes and fairways were average at best. Still fun to play and recommended.
Ariss Valley Golf and Country Club - Lakes Course
Played On 07/08/2020Enjoyable
Played on a hot day in July during COVID times. Staff were very friendly. Price at $60 for a weekday (with power cart) is high for this country course. Greens are HUGE so pay attention to where the flag is placed or you’ll 3 putt all day long. Greens were in OK shape considering the very dry conditions. Rough is outrageous, but it is everywhere during COVID times. T boxes and fairways just OK. Good variety of holes across three sets of 9. Many fairways wide and forgiving. Course is walkable but get a power cart on hot days. Worth checking out!
Otter Creek Golf Club
Played On 08/14/2019Destination Course
Absolutely one of the best layouts in Ontario. You have to drive a way to get there but it never disappoints. Course was in immaculate condition. Only pet peeve is grass cutting and power blowing well into the day (should have been completed hours earlier). New sign markers about end of fairway and carry distances were helpful and appreciated. Check this place out.
Otter Creek Golf Club
Played On 07/18/2018What a beauty!
Drove over an hour to play this course on a perfect weather day. What a beauty! Given the heat and dry conditions this July, the fairways were beautiful and lush. Only a couple of greens showed damage … but mostly in great shape. Great layout and variety, but be sure to choose the tee-boxes that are best suited for your game, otherwise you'll be frustrated. Pace of play was slow given that groups were playing from the wrong tee-boxes. Play this course once a year and always love it. Staff are very friendly. Worth the drive from anywhere!
Tarandowah Golfers Club
Played On 06/15/2018Hard track
Tough links style course. Great challenge. Greens large and true. Bunkers are difficult. Fairways and t boxes were hard. But that adds to the chslllenge. Balls in fescue slow pace of play. Bring lots of balls. Great value for money.
Forest City National Golf Club
Played On 05/26/2018Recommended
Played late May 2018 on a weekend. Pace of play about average. Starter was friendly and accommodating. Course layout is excellent (lots of variety and challenge). Most greens tilt back to front, with lots of undulations. Greens not fully ready yet and slow. Lost lots of balls in the rough so keep it in play. Value for money was excellent. Recommend playing this course.
Rockway Vineyards Golf Course
Played On 07/22/2017Great value in Niagara
At $66 for weekend play including cart, a great value in Niagara. Fairly wide-open but a good variety of holes. Yardage markers on fairways is always good. Pace of play average. Really enjoyed the outing. Would recommend this course ... good golf value in the region.
Oakville Executive Golf Course - Mystic Ridge
Played On 09/25/2016Mostly Positive - Priced High for What You Get
I play OE once or twice per year. Great course for newbies and average golfers. Not terribly long, and great to walk. Club house is above average and menu is above average. Sandwich prices are good and food is good. Golf fees are pricey however. Always feel like I paid too much. Would recommend the 9-holer which has some nice holes.
Camisle Golf Club - Land of Legend
Played On 09/10/2016Abysmal
The course that time forgot. You might as well find a large school playground to hit a ball around. Greens were shaggy. Fairways were overgrown. Unbelievably poor. I'm not a golf snob, but this is one of the few courses I've told myself never to play again. Needs some TLC bad. Don't waste your time or money.
Timber Ridge Golf Course
Played On 07/26/2016Need to Play This One if in Quinte Area
This course is off the 401 in Brighton and is worth the trip from the GTA, Kingston, or Ottawa. Parkland style front 9 followed by a links-style back 9 (more or less). You won't find a flat lie anywhere which makes this course challenging. Great value for the money.
Ariss Valley Golf and Country Club - Lakes Course
Played On 07/26/2016Immaculate greens
First time playing Ariss. Three 9-hole layouts in rolling country side. Staff are very very friendly and welcoming. Despite near drought-like conditions in Ontario, the large greens were immaculate and were being watered intermittently through the day. If you keep it in play you'll score well. Otherwise tall fescue and rough areas will penalize you. Some blind shots and water to navigate. Tee boxes a little rough but that is the only criticism for an otherwise great outing. Recommend a power cart.
Victoria Park East Golf Club
Played On 07/05/2016You Need to Play Vic East
Course was in great shape despite the drought in July 2016 for Ontario. May be drawing water from the local water courses for irrigation. Greens were terrific as was the overall layout. Very walkable and the green fee on Tuesday after 11 am ($45) was good value. Staff were friendly. Lots of length for those that like to hit it long. Par 3's are difficult given the amount of water in play ... some play longer than posted. Becoming my new favourite in the area.
Innerkip Highlands Golf Club
Played On 06/23/2016Very Lush and Well Conditioned
Despite the June 2016 drought-like conditions in Ontario, the course was very lush and well conditioned. Pace of play was excellent. Many holes had spruce trees lining the fairway but easy enough to punch back out if your t-shot is errant. Greens rolled true. Enough water and hazards out there to make it interesting. Great clubhouse for a meal. Loved the day!
Oak Hills Golf Club - Glen
Played On 06/08/2016Good value in the country
I first played this course as a teenage in the 1970's when it was three 9's. Now two 18's (Highland and Lowland). Hasn't really changed very much over time. Fairways (and rough) are school playground quality, lot of clover and weeds, which you need to adjust for. Your club can get snagged in it. Having said that, it was a great outing and great value for the money. Nice views and a nice selection of holes. Greens tend to be small. The Stirling area is beautiful.
Wildwinds Golf Links
Played On 05/12/2016Great value in a country course
Wild Winds is off the beaten track but worth the drive. A walkable course with challenging holes. Some elevation changes. Great value for the money. Fairways and greens were in very good shape. Exceeded expectations.
Raven at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort
Played On 02/08/2016Winter Golf
Enjoyed our outing on the Raven. Rough was in hibernation. Course in generally good shape for the winter conditions. Breezy day which made things challenging. Only minor suggestion would be to add more yardage markers in the fairway. No GPS on carts. Pace of play was satisfactory. On balance, a great course to play if in the area.
Savannah Golf Links
Played On 10/10/2015Great first visit
Local knowledge is a great benefit when playing this course. First 9 was very difficult (lots of hazards), and back 9 was relatively easier. Great hole assortment. Fast, difficult greens. Staff were excellent. Very impressed overall. Will be back again! A shot makers course, less so for bombers.
