5 Hour Rounds

The range is sand box with tiny patches of grass. Hope you weren't trying to keep your clubs in good shape. They'll pack you in like sardines, tell you they are running behind and then you'll hear over the loudspeaker, "We'd like to welcome our first skins game of the day" at the same time you're scheduled to tee off. All this on a Sunday morning. The skins game then proceeded to be a 4some and two 5somes stacked on top of each other. 5 hour plus round. This place is a joke run by jokers. Stay away.

Slow Pace

If you want slow pace of play with a "ranger" who won't do anything to help, this is your place! We played behind a group that was 2 holes behind the next group, but the "ranger" refused to do his job because they were "on pace for 4 hours 30 minutes". Somehow the entire effort of the USGA to speed the game up has been totally missed at this club.

Great summer course!

As a Mesa resident I only recently discovered the joy of playing in Fountain Hills. Quiet, friendly, and affordable during those harsh summer months. Desert Canyon is right on par with the other two public courses I have played in FH. We scored a hot deal via GolfNow, $20 a person including a free sleeve of Titleist balls with the club logo and range balls. No beverage cart, at least in the summer, but free cold water every other hole. Plenty of challenging holes, with elevation changes and green protecting bunkers. Pace of play is protected by a friendly marshall, our twosome finished in under three and a half hours.
