Shandin Hills Golf Club

Played On 08/23/2021Course conditions were poor
Tee boxes were not maintained, greens were not cut and the speed varied dramatically, fairways were not maintained or cut, some of the rough especially in the back nine were overgrown— balls in the rough we’re difficult to find, beyond the rough the course was bordered by dry dirt making it a very dusty place. I can’t come back to this place.
I am not sure if the pro shop attendant is a golfer but I found it difficult to check in —the experience was so poor that course, staff makes this a place I would avoid unless these are not important factors for you.

Overall, I found the course fine -- nothing too interesting, a flat course. Course conditions were ok -- greens and tee boxes were good; fairways a little bumpy or not manicured enough. The price of the round is reasonable.
The computer system -- at the course was somewhat disappointing. I checked in and indicated that I had a prepaid reservation. The computer system was not working and we called golf now for the resolution. The attendant insisted that my rate was incorrect and that carts were not prepaid as most of his guests paid that extra fee when at the course. That was somewhat dismaying -- I do not expect to have someone believe another golfer, but to suggest that I was dishonest was somewhat offensive. It was eventually resolved and the rate, cart included, was confirmed, and yes as I claimed.
I asked if there were any other solo or twosomes that I could join. He said, no, and that I was to tee off after a 4some. I asked if it made sense for me to go ahead of the 4 some. He was reluctant (the course was not busy) I suggested that the pace of play would be affected, but I said, I would ask the group if they would let me through. They had not arrived to the course yet, so I was to wait another 15 minutes to ask. He then said it was all right to proceed. No one ever caught up with me. I was surprised -- this is the very first course I have ever encountered such rigidity. I think if you play here often, there should be no problems. If you are new though, expect some reluctance.
Maybe it was just a perception. Unfortunately, while I think the course is a good one to practice I think I will pass on future rounds there as I did not really feel welcome.

This is definitely the worst course in the area. The staff do not know anything about golf, the course conditions are embarrassing, the clubhouse is unattractive. For any price, this course should be avoided unless you are not a golfer and just want to hack around. The experience is terrible and I will never return to this course again. I have sent a mass email to all my golfing friends in the area and sadly they agree. I wish I paid attention to some of the reviews before booking a round.
Let us assume that you skip the clubhouse and staff and just focus on the course. The greens are slow and damaged. The fairways are filled with dead grass, the bunkers have no sand feel like concrete. The tee boxes are filled with weeds and so attractive, I felt like I needed gloves on both hands to enter them. Whoever runs this place has turned this old course into an embarrassment of a course. Regrettable.
If you are a true golfer, I would definitely avoid this place no matter what the price. Yes, you will pay more elsewhere but given the true ignorance of the staff that do not know anything about golf, it is best to play at other course in Corona. For example, try Eagle Glen just south on 15. You will thank me.

I heard of this course but always hesitant when playing at courses in the middle of a housing development. This course is nice, well maintained. The clubhouse is excellent -- unfortunately, they got rid of the men's locker room and converted into facilities for their wedding programs. That is regrettable. Except for this fact, this club is great. I would highly recommend it to everyone. Don't worry, you won't be distracted by the housing development -- it is largely surrounded by mountains. So you will feel at peace when you hit your 300 yard drive. Oh by the way, don't even think about walking this course -- the elevation changes are dramatic and you won't make past hole 6 before you expire. Fortunately, the carts are electric, furnished with GPS.
Maplecrest Country Club

I like the course. Good value, staff accommodating. Golf course is fine. A few dry spots but in relatively good shape. One thing that is a little peculiar is that the course tends to keep their fairways cut high. Not quite rough, but you won't get much roll here. Club says they keep their grass high to prevent damage as they do not have an automatic sprinkler system. I imagine that during spring and fall this course is perfect.
