The Hasentree Club
Played On 06/09/2018A Fall From Grace
Tom Fazio was provided an unlimited budget to build the golf course at Hasentree. What used to be considered one of the top private courses in the Triangle area is now no better than your average municipal golf course. The new greens Toll Brothers decided to convert to (Tom Fazio installed bent greens...I wonder why he did that?) have been a complete failure. The new bermuda greens were installed because they were going to provide a better playing experience for the Hasentree membership during the spring, summer, and fall seasons. So far, the greens they didn’t loose this winter are rolling slower that the previous bent greens at the same time of year. If you’re looking to putt on slow, bumpy, grainy, and dissappointing greens, look no firther than Hasentree. I feel extremely bad for the membership as they were promised a bill of goods with these new greens and Toll Bros has 100% over promised and under delivered. I would recommend avoiding playing golf at Hasentree until someone at Toll Bros decides to take some initiative and follow thru on what they promised the Hasentree membership.
Lonnie Poole Golf Course at North Carolina State University
Played On 7/25/2013The course has great potential!
Overall, it's a good design. It's only downfall is it is overplayed. The tee boxes seem to suffer the worst as very few players actually fill in the divots. The green complexes seem to do well in North Carolina weather. The staff is not to blame, the players who play the course should shoulder this burden.
