Excellent Layout But !

100 yards in swamp land , Good luck pitching or chipping ,They could of used the extra water in the ball washers because there wasn't any, towels either. Had to wait behind a 4 some the last 6 holes because they wouldn't let a single play thru from the middle of the fairway and "Shocker" no marshall in sight "Never Saw One". The pro shop guy acted like he was doing me a favor taking my 56 bucks to play on "HIS" poorly maintained semi private course. When I said I wanted to hit a small bucket first he came back with "The Range closes at 10 am so you have 15 min to get your balls hit". I finished after 10 and there were still people coming down with fresh buckets so despite this excellent layout (Plays long but fair off the tee , Difficult into and around the greens) they won't "EVER" get another penny of my money. If an ownership lets the public in to keep their doors open they should "NOT" want them to treated like outsiders. I Guess They Can't Be Bothered.

Course in good shape for these drought times.

Despite the water rationing the fairways and greens were getting plenty. I hit a wall on the 10th tee so I played the front nine again and then the back nine for 7 bucks more 23 total for 27 holes with cart "Super Great Deal". Friendly staff and clean facilities. The 1 beef I have is the "DIRT HAZARD EXPERIMENT" they call bunkers. I didn't play very well and went into practice mode. I hit several bunkers AKA "Dirt Hazard Experiments" but after a few I just pulled the ball out and pitched from behind them. This is a semi private club with a decent membership so I'm sure they could afford one of those little bunker tractors that keep the sand churned & fluffed up. Also maybe keep the sprinklers from spraying on them. Despite my rant the course is fun to play and definitely recommended.

Great Marshal

I was stuck between a very slow 4 some in front and a quicker one pressing me from behind. On the 8th tee the marshal came up and said the back nine was empty and to go ahead up to the 10th tee and when I was done come back and play 8 & 9. Super cool guy. I jumped ahead and with no one in front of me I just played an extra ball on a couple of holes and finished up. This is a challenging but fun course to play. Not too long but a lot of elevation changes. One knock would be a poor job of re-raking the bunkers. If you're going to let the sprinklers hit them. Then re-rake them because nobody wants to play out of a Dirt Hazard Experiment.

Better drive it straight and stay out of the grenside bunkers AKA (Dirt Hazard Experiment).

The average course conditions ratings were because the greenside bunkers were terrible. If you're going to let the sprinklers soak them then you need to re-rake them. This is a high end course so I can't believe they don't have one of those bunker raking machines. Luckily I only hit into one fronting the 2nd green. I got under the ball but it still flew over the back of the green. Also I lost a few balls in the gorse less than 10 feet off the fairway which is pretty extreme. They could knock that down some to where you could find your ball but have a hard shot to advance it. The pro tour's not out there every day. The amateurs that keep them in business are. The rest of the course was in top notch shape. But until they clean up the bunker situation I' can't recommend this course to anyone.

Good day at Shandin Hills.

Weather was rather hot 95 degrees + but the occasional breeze helped. The course was in good shape. Greens all excellent and fairways had minimal brown patches. It's tight off the tee on most holes but the landing areas are fair, The staff are quite personable. This is a very enjoyable old style layout with small greens and tall trees lining the holes. The rates are fair and you'll have as much fun here than you would paying $75.00 to $100.00 somewhere else so I highly recommend this course.

Always Good

Course is always in good shape despite current drought conditions. I haven't played much this year due to health issues so it's nice to be able to miss a few fairways and not loose your ball. $25 to ride is a great deal so i'll definitely be back soon.

good layouyt but very bumpy greens

Everything was good except the bumpy greens. Being up on the side of a mountain you expect greens to have a lot of break but it was obvious that after they aerated the last time they didn't care to follow up with the green roller. It was very disappointing not to have a straight put go straight.

Golf Now price good , Carts not so good.

Played here since the 80's. The course is always well maintained. I just can't figure out why they won't fix the steering on the golf carts. It's like the cart thinks about turning. You have to turn the wheel at least half way around before anything happens. It's not rocket science. It's a piece of machinery that can be adjusted.

$29.00 after noon is a good deal.

I played the palms course. It was in good shape for summertime. The facilities were well maintained. Lots of new carts & equipment. The only knock would be the bunkers. Plenty of sand but of the few I was in only one was sandy. The others were what can only be described as dirt hazard experiments. With all that new equipment you'd think they'd have one of those little bunker raking tractors and use it.
