Colonial Golf Course

Played On 12/29/2020Better Weather Better Experience
Played HHL for the second time. First time was in a steady rain for half of the round. This time, in late December, the weather was sunny with minimal breeze and we had a great experience. Played as a twosome and even though we followed a foursome, the pace of play was fine. The greens were in excellent condition and the speed was mid to fast. Most of the tee boxes were in great shape with only the par 3s being fairly heavily sanded. The fairways were over-seeded and a little damp as would be expected, but not severe. The rough was dormant and pretty easy to hit out of. Played the hybrid tees (white tees, with a mixture of greens) at a distance of about 6000 yards which was good for this 59 year old. The layout is great and most trouble is fairly easily avoidable. Overall great experience and will definitely be back.

Played On 05/24/2019First out!
Took advantage of a day off (with other plans for later) and teed off first tee time of the day. Other than dealing with the mowing of fairways, I had n issues at all. I walked the course, which is very easy and played in under 3 hours. Fairways were best I had seen them in a while and the greens were PERFECT!
Wish they did a bit more around the tee boxes, i.e. some benches, place to throw broken tees, better water cooler stations, but all in all a gear round.

Played the course for the second time this season;this time the fairways weren’t dormant. Love the layout and the course offers challenges for all levels.
Fairways were just a bit hairy but in really good condition. Greens were fast and tee boxes were in great shape.
Playing on a very windy day like we did makes this course all you want from a length standpoint.
My only issue is I wish they offered more as far as pro sho, clubhouse and restaurant go but I will still be back. Excellent value with a GolfNow tee time.

Unexpected rain hit the area about a half hour before my tee time. I decided to go ahead and tee off in the rain since I had already paid for the round. Holes 1 & 2 were in a downpour but things started clearing up on Hole 3. By Hole 6 no Loren sign of rain and the back nine was bathed in sun.
I really enjoyed the layout of this course and from the white tees I got to hit almost every iron in the bag. Mixture of holes that you can hit all out and those that required some thought.
The fairways were excellent however the tee boxes were rough and the greens were a bit hairy (slow with some dead spots). The hole placements were in areas not around dead spots.
I imagine in a few weeks this course will be perfect and should be on everyone’s play list.

Arrived a bit early and was allowed to go out by myself. Played through a couple of groups so pace of place was extremely fast.
Loved the layout and variety of holes offered. Fairways were in absolutely perfect condition and greens were a 9/10. Tees weren’t in the best condition but definitely playable.
I will definitely play this one again.
Hi. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your time @HiltonHeadNational. We look forward to seeing you at the course soon for another 5-star experience!

Fairways were still dormant as it is still April. Tees were over seeded and in good condition. Greens were in excellent shape. Course is hard and there were a few pin placements that seemed a bit unfair, but there are also stretches where you can score. Unfortunately today was a tad wet and there was not a lot of roll on the drives, but overall we had a great round!

To be completely honest, the weather lately has been cold and wet. With that said, the fairways where somewhat “hairy” and there was a lot of matted grass clippings all over; making for difficult shots in many areas. However the greens were in excellent condition and rolled true (sprayed green for asthetics). Tees were in good shape as well. Wasn’t a fan of how the tees were set up (we played white and they were playing long...210yd par 3, YIKES!).
Will definitely play again in the spring/summer though!

Have played the course 3 times this year and the course today was in absolutely great shape. Fairways and tees were excellent and the greens were rolling fast and true.
My only complaint would be whoever does pin placements. Some locations were too close to the slopes on the greens for the average player. Other than that it was one of the best rounds, condition wise, I have played this year.
The Hot Deals price we played for was unbelievable for the course conditions. Will play again before the end of the year!
Fayetteville Golf & Country Club
Played On 12/03/2017Found this nine hole course (two sets of tees on multiple holes when playing 18) fun and a bit challenging. The greens were in excellent condition and rolling faster than most. Lots of elevation changes, making walking a challenge (I rode). Relatively short, but the elevation changes make it tricky; especially the uphill Par 3 (#5) and extremely uphill Par 4 (#7).
Main issues I had was with no marshall (or starter), there was a delay when trying to make the turn. Also many folks jumping around the course playing open holes due to large groups.
With that said, I would go back and play again; most likely during the week instead of the weekend.
We are glad you were only rained on for a couple of holes. Waiting out Mother Nature often has its rewards. We hope to see you at Old South again.
