Meadowbrook Municipal Golf Course
Played On 04/10/2016Nice little course, perhaps a little more expensive than it should be though
The course was maintained for the most part. The tee boxes and greens were pretty nice, but other than dead center of the fairways, there was some work to be desired. The sand was hard as a rock in most traps, but it had rained recently.
I liked the elevation changes and challenging green sizes. I think the $32 we paid was slightly more expensive than I am willing to shell out again though. I think this would be a deal at around $25 instead.
Lake Arlington Golf Course
Played On 03/23/2014The winter wasn't nice to Lake Arlington
I play this course fairly frequently and typically don't have any issues, but the course's quality yesterday was pretty bad. The greens were rock hard and faster than I have ever played on. Many of the other golfers were complaining about this. The front edge of the green on 14 in particular was so fast you couldn't even putt or it would roll off the front. The fairways were dry and had many bare spots too. The tee boxes were ok though. I will go back, but probably not until the Spring has had a chance to let the grass grow a little more.
Iron Horse Golf Course
Played On 11/3/2013Affordable twilight prices for a great course
One of my favorite courses around. Well maintained greens and fairways always provide enough of a challenge for all skill levels.
Timberview Golf Club
Played On 8/25/2013Could use a little attention, but decent for the price
There are three aspects to this course. The teeboxes, the fairway and the greens. The teeboxes vary wildly from hole to hole. Some are in good shape, others are rock hard. As an extreme amateur, this really isn't that big of a deal for me. The fairways though, didn't seem to have much maintenance at all. I constantly found myself in dead grass and straight up dirt. This made fairway shots hard and tended to make me want to shoot for the edges of the rough just to make sure I had at least a tiny bit of grass under the ball. The greens on the other hand were pretty nice. Soft and slow made putting a pretty easy job.
The first 18 holes were $25. This was a little pricey considering what we had to fight through. But we ended the back 9 on a high and decided to go for maybe another 9 or so. We found it was only $5 to go for another 18. This vastly improved the value of the round.
So, if you plan on playing more than 18, you'll probably enjoy this course if you can get through the bare and somewhat unmaintained fairways.
