Bardstown Country Club - Woodlawn Springs Course
Played On 8/17/2013Good value for the money. Needs some maintenance
Good course for the money. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The course layout is similar to a lot of courses built in the middle of a housing development. Lots of homes along the fairways and long drives between holes. Greens were a little rough and had too many spots where they were not maintained well. Also, lots of unpleasant undulations. Don't know if I would drive from Louisville again to play here, but if you are already in the area, it's worth stopping by.
Glenmary Country Club
Played On 7/28/2013Slow day at Glenmary
The course was in very good condition with some exceptions. #12 had holes in the green that looked like gophers had been digging. Worst I've ever seen on a golf course. Got a great deal at $25 for 18 with a cart. However, it was extremely slow and the groups in front of me were crawling along. Would have been nice to have someone from the course marshalling to make sure groups were keeping pace. I've played this course many times in the past and it never disappoints. Would definitely recommend playing here.
Maplehurst Golf Course
Played On 7/11/2013Good value for the money
The course is better than average. Holes are straight and plenty of room to recover from a bad shot on most holes. Greens were decent and good sized, but felt mushy to walk on. They offer a Par Card that once you pay for 8 rounds of nine holes, the ninth round is free which is a good deal. I would recommend it as a practice round or if eveyone else in south Louisville is booked and you just have to play golf somewhere. Overall was a good value and I will play there again.
Heritage Hill Golf Club
Played On 6/12/2013Great course and excellent staff service
I think this course is the best value on the south end of Louisville. When you arrive at the course, the staff bring a cart to you and help to get your clubs loaded up. When you finish, they come get the cart for you. Played 9 holes mid week and the course was in excellent condition. Greens were a little slow, but they may be letting them grow out a little due to the heat, so this wasn't an issue. Driving range was grass hitting areas and the practice green is large and well maintained. I hope more people will make the short drive to play this course. I would play here any day and it's a better value that Quail Chase or the Crossings.
Doe Valley Golf Club
Played On 4/28/2013Great couse if you can get a discount
I got a great $10 hot deal today for 18 holes with a cart at 2:50pm! Considering the amount of rain received yesterday, the course was in pretty good shape, but I found myself preferring to play from the rough because there was more grass in the rough than the fairways. I thought they were cut too short for this time of year.
Greens were large and generous, but were just recently aeriated so they were sandy and bumpy. If you don't hit the ball straight, bring lots of disposible golf balls. Fairways are tight and most holes have heavy woods lining both sides. The 18th hole was the best by far. Large landing area, faiway was green and the water fronting the green was exciting.
Lots of wildlife and woods. Overall, a good golf day (as if there is a bad one!). Staff is very friendly.
Website says its 20 miles south of Louisville. It was 35 miles from Okolona. Took a while to get there.
Overall, a great deal at $10, but I wouldn't pay full price until later in the year.
