Pure Greens and Perfect Conditions

Panther Lake is an "American" style parkland course featuring rolling hills and a number of elevated greens. Room off the tee makes this course approachable, but intricate green complexes with slopes and undulations make this a second shot course. Good amount of water without being involved on every hole. Greens were rolling over a 12, making for some extremely difficult putts. Pace was pretty good. We were 10 minutes ahead and still were spoken to by the ranger to pick up the pace. After only one hole on the back nine we caught up to the group in front of us and were backed up the rest of the day. Great layout with interesting holes. In addition to greens, fairways and rough were pristine.

Rough conditions

Greens were rolling true as usual. Rough and green complexes were not good with bare spots and many wet areas. The fairways also had some sparse spots. Last year this course was pricey but the conditions were pristine. This time the conditions were not worth $89 for a 5 hour round. There should be a bell or signal system for the many blind spots on the course. They reversed some of the holes on the layout. Find it plays less interesting and long drives from one green to the teeing ground. Not worth the money or time right now.

Winning in the White Mountains

Well worth the drive to northern NH! The course is surrounded by mountains on all sides, including towering Mt. Washington to the northeast. All holes have mountain views and many holes have historic hotel views. Course is in great condition this summer with 17/18 greens in pristine conditions and nearly every fairway lush and green. Plenty of fescue narrowing the long fairways. Cross between a links and a typical American course. Classic Ross design with elevated greens and fairway bunkering. Fair challenge! Staff was friendly and gave us comp. range balls. Check out layout on 18 before ripping a wood. There is a short layup before a river crossing!

Interesting layout...slow round

We were walking but paired with two in a cart, not the best way to maintain pace of play leading to some rushed shots. Course was in great shape and the greens were fast and true. Great undulations and ridges for a challenge. Not a true links layout with some tree lined fairways. Sharp doglegs seem more American than British isles. We had a few foursomes in front and had a 6 hour pace.
