Over the years, I’ve continued to give this course a chance everything 3-4 years. Nothing will ever change the location. However, it’s just a bad course location. Nothing but hills. Everything is either up or down. Nothing flat. Plus, so many fairways cart path only. Why? Hadn’t rained in several days. Over the top. The gps would tell you once you entered a restricted zone. Some signage yet limited placement. Most cart path restriction experience when hadn’t rained in several days. And, starter was simply disrespectful and rude. Completely uncalled for situation.
My friend had never played and, after playing, will never play again. He’s a pretty decent golfer!

Only two holes recent shape and they weren’t anything above average. Well worn and played. Beautiful layout. Could be a challenging course. However, everything about it needs help. Play the Pines. Better condition by far.

I generally really like this course with one huge exception. They are terrible about managing tee times and pace of play. Always hurry up and wait. No on-course control. Tee times are too tight. Causes me to say no to play here and not recommend. Plus, they allow push cart play on top of tight tee times and slow pace.
The Pro Shop and starting
staff do their job. No more. Seems they don’t want to be there.
Fix these issues and one heck of a course to play.

In fairness, it’s winter golf. So, I need to play it during the summer to really get a feel for it. Limited grass of any kind on tee boxes. Fairways average. Greens bumpy. Hard to tell how the greens will look / play during season. I’ll play it some more as the price to course was decent. Will recommend it to others. Pretty open. Some water in play. Looking forward to playing Oaks course here.

Never disappoints. Pace was slower today due to frost delay. Plus, group ahead slower than usual. However, Marshal did ask them to speed up.

It’s a challenging course worth playing and returning only occasionally. However, there are several things they could do much better.
Pace of play. Tee times are too close which implies course is more interested in your money than your golfing experience. There was no marshal yet saw the beverage cart many times. Maybe combine the jobs?! I want often choose a course that doesn’t manage player experience well.
Needs more drinking water resources. Again, likely about the beverage cart and them.
Not a single ball washer on course nor on cart. Really?
There are several points on the course where next hole directional should be installed especially for the “new to course golfer”.
Main fairway areas, tee boxes and greens in nice shape. Secondary rough is way too tall. We saw no one mowing. Actually, only maintenance going on was limited watering of greens. Yet, several young men running around on carts without regard to golfer’s play doing what I don’t know. Joy-riding?? Maybe it’s an issue of labor resources. However, many areas of the course needs to be mowed and kept more manicured for the overall experience.
Sand bunkers are a joke. Very little has been or is being don’t to maintain them. Washed out and hard as concrete mainly. So, stay out of them as you don’t have a prayer hitting from them.
Cart paths are in bad shape. Meaning, surface is very uneven almost the entire course. So, go slow if your don’t want to throw yourself out of cart, wreck or shake yourself around the entire round.
Finally. No in-cart GPS! Really? With the type of course this is and how it could better be with above improvements, modernize with onboard gps.
I’ll be back at some point. Sparingly. However, do the things above if you aspire to be an awesome golfing experience. There are many other better courses in the area to choose without the issues stated above.

As I understand it, this is a county owned course and all profits are to be put back into the course. Keep in mind the tee boxes, fairways and greens are all in really good shape. So, congrats on that. However, prices keep increasing and they are spending a boatload of money all of which doesn’t seem necessary. In the recent year they made some really nice improvements to the cart path surface. Great. Needed. Appreciated.
They spent a lot on landscaping. Mainly plants and bushes. Way too many. ,Now they’re adding wider pavement to cart paths at tee boxes and greens. I’m sure it will be nice once completed. However, simply not a wise spend of money. Not logical at all. And it’s a mess.
Sand bunkers look very nice. However, if you step into most, they’re hard in a great deal of the bunker surface. Spend the money from wider tee box and greens cart path widening on the bunkers. Or, here’s a novel thought. Since the regular cart paths, tee boxes, fairways and greens all look really well and the course plays well…. Reduce the price to play. Basically, my opinion is they’ve taken a really nice course and gone overboard on spending on pavement and landscaping. which will cost everyone more as time passes. This is not Augusta National. .
I’ll continue to play it unless the price to play increases due to perceived and additional unnecessary spend.

Nice course. Club drop off staff nice. Course wet from previous day’s rain. Cart path only. Still good pace. Sand bunker sand not very deep. Somewhat like hitting off of hard pan in places. Overall nice course.

I use to love and recommend this course. Played several times over the past 6-7 years. Not sure I’ll play it anymore.
What’s good? Golf carts are newer and perform well. Greens are on average ok. Fringe decent. Within 75-100 yards of green pretty rough mostly.
What’s been ignored and needs lots of help? Tee boxes below average. Fairways are terrible for most part. Dirt.and sand. Limited grass. If you play here, you’ll need to move your fairway ball onto the some adjacent grass somewhere most of the time. I wasn’t in sand bunkers yet most looked ignored.

Love the efforts underway to install GPS. My cart was updated. Played this course a lot in past. First time with GPS. Even though few bugs in system, it was Great. Telling me I’m in a restricted zone while sitting on cart path. 😳😎
Newly install and finished cart paths also very nice.
Little overkill on azaleas to course. However, nice.
Pace of play still a little slow. Chicopee is known (my experience) for overbooking the course. They need to better manage pace.
Suggest installing a couple of cameras on certain holes with big blind spots (deep holes)and then a video screen at approaching landing area to know about forward golfers. RiverPines has that on two of their holes. Huge help.

The course overall was much improved over the last time I played several months back. Took several months off to prep for and ride a 45 day bicycle tour.
Tee boxes, fairways and greens in nice shape. Been doing a lot of watering. Which creates the one negative I had yesterday. Too much water in a number of places. Lots of spots in fairway, around greens just too water and soggy. Plus, grounds crew mowing right through these areas (even on green fringes) making a mess. I realize they're adding TONS of azaleas. Too many honestly. So watering the heck out of those areas generally around greens. Yes, they’re a state own non-profit so putting money back into course.
Always worth a round!

Enjoy playing here especially for the GN deals. Will continue playing. However course continues to degrade some each time I play here. Most greens have issues of sand/dirt patches along with some really good areas of the greens. Yet, greens continue to go downhill. Tee boxes have little grass. Areas of fairways go from great to poor condition. Overall you can have a decent round here as long as you understand there’s still plenty of undesirable areas of tee boxes, fairways and greens.

A great course. Pace slow today due to two foursomes ahead playing some type of competition. And, slowing play down for others. Had to unnecessarily wait on next shots too often!!!

Overall, course is well worth playing. However, I don’t get the point of onboard GPS which does not provide yardage to hole from current location on hole.. Only shows the hole and where you are on the hole. No yardage of next shot. Big money waste! Also, no ball washers anywhere on course or cart. Tee boxes need watering as very hard and In bad shape. Greens and fairways pretty good. Love the layout. Even roughs and wooded areas clean. Pace of play good. Certainly will play again. Deficiencies above won’t keep me from playing RiverPines.

First time playing here. May have be some my favorite course of local courses! Beautiful day for a round! Hope to play it more often.
