Long rounds. Average course. Only play if it's cheap

A friend and I decided to try this course out at it is in the middle of where we both live.

The course itself is nice enough. Pretty typical and the fairways and greens were decently green.

It's a narrow course, with trees on either side of almost every hole so if you can't hit it straight you WILL have problems.

Unfortunately, the pace of play was terrible. It took 3 hours to get through the first 9 holes. By the time we hit hole 3 we were backed up 3 groups and waiting 15 minutes between holes. I saw a few other reviews that mentioned the pace being poor, but I didn't expect it to be this bad. BELIEVE the reviews people.

For $52 there are far better and cheaper courses out there with a reasonable pace of play so unless you get a hot deal at $25 or so, I'd skip this course.

An ok experience when you finally get a cart.

I come here once or twice a month for the last year or so and have noticed the experience slowly getting worse each time.

Tee times: Seem to often start later than booked, This is due to a combination of logjams at the first 2 tees and more importantly due to a lack of golf carts. At one experience, 5 groups of people were all hanging out to cart-jack the next available cart so they could tee off. There is no order as a worker just drops a cart off in the middle , hops out, and people have to rush to it regardless of what their tee time is.

Course Conditions: I know there is a drought so I won't complain about it. However the sand traps are basically gravel on every hole.

Snack Bar: Not terribly important in the grand scheme of things, but if you want to try and grab a quick bite on the turn, good luck. It takes about 10-15 minutes to get a hot dog and a soda because they have one person working there regardless of the amount of people waiting.

It is becoming harder and harder to justify coming here.

Smooth and Open Course

I live only a few minutes away from Woodley so I find myself playing there semi-frequently due to convenience.

It's a nice course because it's wide open. You have to really try to lose a ball. Some might not find it challenging due to the mostly straight holes, but if you are still polishing your game or have a tendency to shank the ball you will love this course.

Even with a bad hit you are going to have a playable lie and be able to work on improving your game without being frustrated.

While I have never seen a marshal on the course during my times there, the pace of play is almost always good enough not to need one.

If you just want to get some swings in, or are still learning the game you can't find a better course for figuring out your game.

Decent Course. Slow Pace

A friend and I checked this place out on a weekend afternoon. We were paired up with another two-some and off we went.

The course itself is nice. Rolling hills on most holes and what felt like an average of 6 sand traps per hole. I did count 10 sand traps on one hole alone.

The greens are difficult to read with a lot of changes in direction to the point that sometimes you'll think you're playing mini-golf. So if putting isn't your thing, be prepared for some extra strokes.

Unfortunately the pace of play was not great. It took over 5 hours to finish the course (and the last 2 holes we effectively played in the dark)

We were not alone in this as numerous times people just chose to play through a hole or two to try and "jump the line" which mostly just ended up with the pace getting no better as it just backed things up further ahead.

The only other drawback is just how far away this place is from most cities. Unless you live very close, the drive there is going to take you quite some time.

Not worth the price

I was a bit hesitant to try this course out given some of the other reviews, but since most of my friends are out that way and we wanted to try a new course we gave it a shot.

Boy, what a mistake. Let me try to give a few positives:

1. We started on time.

On to the negatives!

1. The carts have no gps, and the scorecards provide no maps, so first time players can be at a loss. Given a few holes have severe dog legs, it can be an issue.

2. The course is in mixed shape. Some holes were fine, but there were patches of thick grass in some fairways, quite a few "swamps" and at least 2 sand traps that were completely filled with water. I am guessing they are dealing with some sprinkler issues.

3. There seems to be no drink cart. Which is rough when it's 80 degrees out and you're on the course for 5+ hours.

4. Oh yeah, the pace of play is SLOW. I think with our threesome we clocked in at 5.25 hours.

5. The "golf ambassador" driving around the course seemed a bit mean spirited. Some of the fairways are close together, so there are possibilities of a mis-hit going into another fairway. This happened to my friend, and the "ambassador" drove up and parked his cart 3 feet in front of him, just out of the way of being hit but still in his eye sight and stared him down until he took his shot to return to his hole. He then gave him the sage advice of "you're on the wrong fairway!" So helpful!

Given the price, and even with the discount to play for $55, it wasn't worth it. There are plenty of places you can play for just as much that have nicer facilities, staff, and greens.

Take the advice of the people who've reviewed lately, and pick another course.

Not worth the price

I was a bit hesitant to try this course with some friends, but it was in a convenient location for us all so we gave it a shot despite the mixed reviews.

The course is very flat, so even if you can't hit very straight you'll still be fine. Not much of a challenge overall.

The fairways were in various states. No dead patches, but many roped off areas and they seem to perhaps be having sprinkler issues as many holes had swampy areas and a few sand traps had huge puddles in them taking up 75% of the sand trap.

The golf carts have no gps at all. Nor do the cards have a map of the holes so in some cases it does make it difficult for first time players to know the layout of the holes.

There also does not seem to be any drink cart available. After playing 5 hours we didn't see a single one drive by.

Pace of play was below average. It took us almost 5.5 hours to complete our 18 holes as a threesome.

At $50+ a round they are charging, it's not worth. I'd pay at most $25 to play at this course. Otherwise I'd go to a better kept/run facility.

Pretty course but could use some oversight.

This was my first time trying this course, but with the deal from GolfNow it was worth giving it a try.

The course itself is beautiful and the pro shop staff are great.

However, during play I didn't see a single marshal or drink cart go by, which is problematic on a hot day or when other golfers are causing issues.

There are a lot of blind tee shots, and if you can't tee off 175+ yds in the air be sure to pick the red tee boxes, otherwise you're in for some problems.

Also a word of advice, they have the golf carts pretty hard wired to not allow speeds over what they want (11 mph) and if you enter within 20 yds of the putting green, you will get a warning and have your speed limited to 2 mph. This is great for protecting the course but annoying when you are 30 yds away (according to their own GPS) and still get hit with the limit and then have to take 2-3 minutes at a snail's pace to get back out of range.

Also, many of the holes are set for cart path only, so if you attempt to drive off it, you will be locked into "reverse only" mode to back up to the path. So if you are a very lazy golfer and don't like walking a bit, this may not be the course for you.

Challenging but beautiful course

This was my first time playing this course, but thankfully I was paired up with a partner who plays it almost weekly and another group of guys who had been there a few times.

This helped immensely as there are a few tricky shots where you are shooting blind to the target. Plus it's always nice to have witnesses when you sink a great putt. :)

If you're a beginner, this course will definitely challenge you. Even if you're intermediate there are some challenging holes that will humble you.

The course was well maintained and a few of the holes offer some fantastic views from up on high. The drink cart swung by at least 3-4 times during the round which was perfect for a hot day.

Ok course, if you can manage to book.

I drive by the course all the time, so finally decided to give it a try.

Unfortunately, trying to book online is literally impossible. It appears their system does not communicate properly with GolfNow so when you try to book an open tee time, they do not send a confirmation back, so you are not able to complete the reservation.

The only way to book getting the rates is to call GolfNow directly, have them then call the golf course, hope they answer, and then get a manual booking (which at times is more expensive than what's listed on the web site.)

So by the off chance you actually get to book online and get a good deal ($4-10 is great, but I wouldn't pay the $22 for just walking up) give it a shot.

The course isn't in terrible condition, but it's not great either. Some of the mats are in better condition than others. The greens are in ok shape.

There aren't really any marshals about that I saw, which normally isn't a big problem on par 3 courses, but in the 2 times I've been I have noticed that the pace of play of the people here is *incredibly* slow.

I got stuck behind a group of 3 people all sharing one set of clubs, and taking 20 minutes per hole. A pace that'd be slow on a par 5 let along a hole that's 95 yds away.

There were also people just playing the same few holes over and over again, which is fine when there are no people waiting but becomes problematic when it starts to back up holes.

So if you just want to go golfing for as cheap as possible, this place is great when you can play for $5. Otherwise, move on.
