Better in the summer

Played the course in both the winter and summer and even though you would expect summer to be better the difference is very marked. In the winter it holds the water but summer the course is super with very good greens. Value for money is up with best. Will be deffinatly going again.

Good Company

played the course a number of times and the condition for this time of the year was without doubt a credit to the green staff and team at Hawkstone Park. Not one area of lying water - greens were true and pacey. Best value for money this year

Beautiful course but wet

The drive into the course allowed for some spectacular views. It gave a sense of anticipation of what was to come. The setting is outstanding - not only the castle and gardens but the views across towards the coast and the isle of Arran. Truly mind blowing. Met by some of the friendliest staff I have had the pleasure of meeting - 10 out 10, guys you set the standards. The design of the course by Monty was spectacular. The lay out and design with "little" traps to grab that inherent hit or misjudged approach made it a course to remember. The available size and distance between tee's would lend towards championship golf. The only concern and what let this course down was the wet. Even on top of hills the course was wet. Sort the drainage out and there will be a queue heading back to Kilmarnock to play here - will be back to play though mid summer.

Super Course pity about the pace

Had the pleasure of playing a superb links course. When you were on the course you felt that you were in paradise. The layout was interesting, the condition outstanding and the greens most probably the best I have played on - yes Brabazon take note.
The only disappointment was the pace of play - 5 hours 30 minutes for a 2 ball. Caught up with a 4 ball complete with 4 caddies after 3 holes. Even though they were losing balls they never thought to let us through until the 11th - would have thought the caddies from the course would have known better!!!!! Still the rest of the experience certainly made up for this. Would definitely play again especially as my son played to 2 under off the back tee's - me not so good but enjoyed the experience all the same
