They warned me they had aerated the course but I thought they and done it before this year so how bad could it be? Well, it was REALLY BAD. Nickel sized holes in every green, some filled with sand and some not filled. Sand that had been brushed off the greens was left around the greens in the fringe making approaches very difficult. They should have discounted the greens fees just for how bad the course was. I'll be back but not for at least two weeks due to the bad job they did.

StoneyBrook West has continually been getting better over the past three years as to the condition of fairways, greens, and traps. The course is much more playable and enjoyable than the first time I played it in 2013. Fairways have gone from green weeds to green grass. Greens are smooth and well repaired. Many traps have been removed with the remaining ones rebuilt and well maintained. Playability is greatly improved with the trap removal. That said there are still problems. Greens are very inconsistent--one will roll a 10 and the next will roll a 7. There are many water drainage problems that leave large areas of wet mud and submerged cart paths. Although playability of the course has increased pace of play and not increased. No marshals are available to keep people moving along. I will continue to play the course because it is an excellent value for the money; hopefully the improvements will continue.

I've played this course now for 4 years and it is finally looking like a golf course. At first it was mostly weeds for fairways and poor greens, with lots and lots of unmaintained traps. The new management has made the course extremely playable by removing many traps, upgrading the remaining traps, killing the weeds and taking wonderful care of the greens. My only complaint about the course now is the maintenance people don't have a clue about how to treat a golfer--they stay in the fairway instead of getting out of the way; why does it take 5 people to replace 6 pieces of sod??!!

Have been playing Stoneybrook West for three years and this is the worst year for quality of fairways and sand traps. Very little grass on the fairways and lots of weeds. PLAYING WINTER RULES IN FLORIDA IS LOUSY!!! Pace of play much too slow but the marshalls don't bother with speeding things up, IF there are marshalls. Supposedly bought by another company but they have not put any money into the course! Greens are good but starting to show lack of care--hard with unrepaired defects. Food and beverage lounge is poorly managed with no priority for people making the turn and calling in your order guarantees nothing. Didn't even have the food computers up and running at 1245pm when I made the turn. Plus the lounge is open only from 1000am until 3pm--before and after bring your own food and drinks! Most of the time they don't have a food/beverage cart on the course--so bring your own!!! Pro shop folks helpful and friendly. Lousy sand traps and fairways, or did I say that already??? Very poor course maintenance. Haven't used weed killer in years!
