Mission Hills - Gary Player Course
Played On 07/04/2020New owners
This was one of my favorite courses in the desert, but has gone down hill since the new owners took over. Fairway bunkers are unplayable. Some were a similar to hitting off of a hard pan waste area, and others were just mud, no sand. My group elected to play it as ground under repair and pull the ball out. Most green side bunkers were in good shape, and the greens were about average for this time of year. The course as a whole was just not in very good condition. The bathrooms on the course have not been cleaned in who knows how long and there was no toilet paper or paper towels in any of them. There is no drinking water on the course and no cart person driving around to purchase anything from. The GPS in our carts varied in distance by as much as 20 yards to the pin while sitting next to each other.
One positive note, the employees at the course were exceptional and very accommodating.

Course was in good shape and pace of play was pretty slow, but that’s normal for the time of year. My clubs were picked up at the bag drop area by a cart attendant and I went to check in. After checking in the golf cart attendant informed me that my bag felt heavy so he decided to investigate. He said he looked through my bag and found the two beers I had brought with me. He then lectured me on why people can’t bring outside food and drinks to the course.
Don’t let your bag out of your sight!
