Midlane Country Club
Played On 05/02/2021Midlane Country Club Surprise
What a great surprise playing Midlane Country Club in Wadsworth, IL for the first time. 8 am tee time.. got off on time and never ran into the group in front of us. Course in fabulous condition, green run true (but if you play Midlane, play less break than you are reading.) Definitely challenging with water hazards on at least 14 holes, but fairway widths are generous to avoid trouble. Position golf for sure! Staff outstanding, along with putting green and driving range. I'm definitely heading back to Midlane again.
Ravisloe Country Club
Played On 07/15/2018Ravisloe Lives Up to Rep
Ravisloe lived up to its reputation as being an outstanding "old course." Tee boxes, fairways, rough and greens are very well-maintained. Greens a touch slow but this is by design because they get a lot of play, but the are in great condition and roll true. Water on only one hole; lots of trees, but fairways are of a width where if you hit your tee shots "relatively straight" you should be playable most of the time. Certainly worth the trip to play one of Illinois' top old courses!
The Club at Eaglebrooke
Played On 04/23/2016Outstanding Facility
I play golf all over the Tampa Bay area and other than TPC of Tampa Bay, I don't believe I have rated any other facility "Excellent." Eaglebrooke is an outstanding club, great course layout in excellent condition, but also with fantastic practice facilities as well. Green were fast and in great shape. Can't say enough good things. Take the drive to Lakeland and play The Club at Eaglebrooke.
St. Petersburg Country Club
Played On 04/09/2016St Pete CC Disappointment
In the height of the golf season in Florida one would think a private country club course would be in excellent shape. Unfortunately, not the case. The greens and fairways were all scored, course maintenance very average. Staff outstanding. Pace of play terribly slow. We stopped after 9 holes of play and went to the restaurant at 3:20 pm. Kitchen closed at 3. Seriously, on a Saturday?
Lansbrook Golf Club
Played On 02/27/2016Great Greens but Little Else
Lansbrook, a semi-private club, offers greens that are in excellent condition unfortunately, tee-to-green is hard with fairways becoming spare. This is surprising because it is the "high season" down here in Florida where course conditions should be optimal. Lansbrook is a challenging course with lots of trees and water, so you have to hit straight. Good value, pace of play slow, just needs a little work.
The Eagles Golf Club - Forest
Played On 02/14/2016Glory Days Gone By
20 years ago, The Eagles was one of the top semi-private courses in the Tampa Bay area. Unfortunately, those days are gone. Fairways were dry and sparse, the rough around the course burned out. Greens were very average with discoloration throughout. Not worth the trip at all with so many other better options in the area.
Southern Hills Plantation
Played On 10/18/2015A Must Play
Southern Hills is a definite "must play" if visiting or living in Florida. It's a first rate track, excellent condition, fast greens, great practice facilities with lots of tee box options for all levels of play. You know a course is great when I have talked about it with friends 10 times in the last 2 days.
TPC Tampa Bay
Played On 09/20/2015TPC Tampa Bay Tops
Tampa residents should be proud of TPC Tampa Bay as one of the finest overall golf facilities in the nation. From the clubhouse, to dining, the practice facility, the staff and, of course, the course... everything is first rate as it earns its rating as one of the top courses in the nation. If you want to be treated like a pro, TPC Tampa Bay is where you need to play.
Bardmoor Golf & Tennis Club
Played On 05/25/2015Gem in the Rough
No pun intended, but Bardmoor is certainly one of the better golf clubs in the Tampa Bay area. Greens in very good condition, fairways well-maintained with a soft feel (we all prefer that.) Lots of water on the course, so either hit 'em straight or bring balls. Great Golf Now Hot Deal... definitely worth the trip and I'll be heading back to Bardmoor very soon.
Sandpiper Golf Club - Lakes/Palms Course
Played On 03/08/2015Sandpiper at Sun City Center
Sandpiper, the sister course to Club Renaissance at Sun City Center, is a well-run facility with 3 separate nine hole courses, each with their own personality. Driving range, putting green and greens in excellent condition. Fairways a little un-manicured, but playable.
Very good value for the price, especially through Golf Now (of course, no pun intended). Playing the big sister course, Club Renaissance, is a must play.
Lakes at Walden Lake Golf & Country Club
Played On 03/07/2015Great Facility Gone Bad
Unfortunately, what was once a very nice facility 20 years ago has turned into a complete disaster about to close in May. The Hills course is already closed; the Lakes course closing soon. Every aspect has become old, un-kept and run down. A very disappointing Saturday indeed.
The Club Renaissance
Played On 02/01/2015Club Renaissance
Outstanding and worth every penny I paid, which rate was extremely fair for February in Florida. Fairways, rough and green in excellent shape. Pace of play also very good. This is an absolutely beautiful course that every golfer needs to experience.
Tarpon Woods Golf Club
Played On 01/25/2015Taron Woods Challenge
This course has matured nicely over the years. The greens and bunkers have all been redone with the greens being a little thin but surprisingly slow. Fairways and rough could use some additional work but not enough to really affect one's game; just the aesthetics. It has always been and will continue to be a challenge for anyone that has trouble hitting the ball straight. Definitely worth the play, though.
Bloomingdale Golfers Club
Played On 11/16/2014Beautiful but Deadly
Bloomingdale's has been one of Tampa's top facilities for many years; but it can be challenging. The course is in very good shape. Greens are very fast. Very scenic with lots of wildlife. (Our group had a hawk join us on the first tee box.) This course is definitely worth the few extra dollars to play it.
Quail Hollow Golf Course
Played On 10/26/2014Hit 'Em Straight
I have played Quail Hollow several times and the course is in excellent condition. Greens, fairways, bunkers and rough are all very well maintained.
Fairways are the perfect width to forgive the occasional push or pull; however, you want to stay in in or close to the fairways off the tees or you get to deal with our-of-bounds or hazards, so hit 'em straight.
Quail Hollow is on my personal "Replay List" especially when booking through Golf Now.
Whisper Creek Golf Club
Played On 08/31/2014Talk Loudly About Whisper Creek
Players should be shouting about Whisper Creek. Course is in outstanding condition, manicured tee to green, greens run quick but not too fast. It was an absolute pleasure to play there (again). Some very challenging holes; but plenty of fair ones too. My 83 didn't quite hold up to my 16 yr old son's one under 71; but worth every dollar to watch him do it. Put it on your Illinois Bucket List for sure.
Clearwater Country Club
Played On 08/24/2014Country Club Play
Clearwater Country Club has been around for many years, so it is a seasoned golf course. The staff is outstanding. Lots of room in the fairways for those that do not always hit it straight. Greens in excellent condition - they roll true and fast.
If you like playing in that moderate country club environment, definitely worth a round or two.
Diamond Hill Golf & Country Club
Played On 08/03/2014Almost a Diamond in the Rough
Diamond Hill is making a comeback under its new ownership that has made a serious commitment to improving and upgrading the course. Green are in good condition, fairways and rough management definitely coming along. This is a wide open course, great to practice your skills. Very friendly staff. Driving range good; putting green small. Great place to practice your game; but not ready to be called a TPC course just yet.
Wentworth Golf Club
Played On 08/02/2014Tampa Bay's Best Kept Secret Challenge Course
Wentworth is Tampa Bay's best kept secret challenge course. Located in Tarpon Spring, FL, this semi-private club course has for a magnificent, challenging layout, well-kept greens; but be prepared to "hit 'em straight." There are many tree-lined fairways, deep bunkers and a few holes with water carries; but if you got the game and the guts, this is a beautiful course worth playing for the experience.
Heritage Isles Golf and Country Club
Played On 10/12/2013North Tampa's Hidden Gem
Hidden away in one of North Tampa's residential communities, Heritage Isle Golf and Country Club was a great adventure! A friendly staff, followed by 30 minutes on the range hitting balls into a lake, then off to the first tee. Every hole was a unique challenge. The five tee boxes create great variation in the required skill level to succeed on this course. Greens in very good shape. Pace of play perfect on a Saturday afternoon. Heritage Isle's relationship with GolfNow offers great rates! A must play course in Tampa if you are looking for some great scenery, wildlife, challenging holes, and a great golf experience.
We're sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your round with us, FEBJR73156. Winter conditions can account for the sparseness, as Bermuda is dormant currently. We hope you'll come back out and give it another go.
