Red Tiger

I decided to play Red Tiger at Doral because the design is rather unique. There are six Par 5s, six Par 4s, and six Par 3s. Gil Hanse did a great job setting up a course that's high on fun. Don't let the 6400y number from the tips trick you into thinking it's a short course. That's simply the result of the 6/6/6 setup. It was definitely worth the price I paid, but Doral isn't a must-repeat because everything has extra charges and everyone is looking for tips. The valet alone is $32.

Good Time Golf

This place was the perfect first stop on this Florida trip. The staff is great. They have all easy food and drink options. The layout is Old Florida. The greens were spotty but fast, and I was all-in for $50.

Vineyard Golf

Terrific layout, but they let their tournament tees grow in, so it now maxes at 6650y and has plenty of crabgrass and grass-filled fairway bunkers.

They made great renovations to the buildings and restaurant, but kind of let the course go. Wine that used to be $28 is now $49.

It's worth it for a Hot Deal because I love the layout, but it's sliding down for sure.

Shore Course not at the Shore

Course was enjoyable for the hot deal value. Back 9 is better than the front, but it's very penal and not kept dry enough for the design. Lots of odd holes and crazy greens. It's okay, but not as good as Ballamor. Going back would depend on the deal.

Southern Hills is a must play...

Pete Dye championship track. The "tour" tees go back to 7600, but the tips play at 6950 and are more than enough to handle. Perfect conditions, perfect firmness and tremendous setup overall. A ton of elevation changes for Florida, and definitely a course worth driving over an hour to play. My only minor criticism is Pete Dye's constant need to over-contour greens. There's plenty of that and you'll get some unfair breaks, but the course is so nice that you won't really care.

Average course, awful staff

I purchased a GolfNow Deal Caddy offer awhile ago for a foursome on the Presidential course. The offer had since expired, so I called Tuesday to ask what their policy would be for a Saturday round in October. The gentleman answering the phone told me that they would honor the offer provided I played after 11:00AM because it was October, and they were off-season. I brought 3 friends, and when I arrived, they told me it would cost me an additional $25/man to tee off. I explained my previous call, and how I would have easily used this offer later in the afternoon (or not at all) to no avail. Needless to say I was beyond embarrassed in front of the 3 friends I invited BECAUSE of this deal. The 3 staff, let's call them "Moe, Larry, and Curly" finally agreed to 'only' charge me an extra $12/man... which I put entirely on my Visa. I've been in the golf industry for 20 years, and I don't ever remember dealing with this kind of situation. The course was very average, but I was too irritated to notice. The four of us will never be back, and since I play a lot of golf, a lot of people will be hearing this one. Unreal how hiring miserable people can ruin what should have been a nice day.

Old Florida + A Surprise

Played here as a morning "bonus" round before heading to World Woods for the afternoon. What I got was a great Old Florida treat (lots of oak trees, tree-lined, but not woodsy, etc.) for the first 11 holes, followed by a "wow" last 7 holes that were like nothing I've ever played in Florida. The greens were in GREAT shape, and were actually better than WW. What a treat... great people, great price. Will be back on vacation.

Better than Pine Barrens...

Outstanding experience and great layout. World Woods is all about golf, so money isn''t spent on the whole "dining and locker experience". What you get are two great courses in terrific condition. I played both on back-to-back days and wasn't disappointed in the least. I thought Rolling Oaks was a better course... but then again, I'm from Philly... so playing "Pine Barrens" type courses are hardly unusual.

Tough and a little weird... but great value mid-week.

I played Cape May for the first time in August because I had a hot rate deal that was too good to pass up. The course plays long because you can't just hit driver everywhere, and it's also tight almost the whole way around. Some of the holes are also a little gimmicky. That being said, to play a course at 7,000 the quality of this would easily be worth what I paid for it and then some. Our round took 5 hours and we finished #18 in the dark because the pace of play was very slow. Not sure if that's a trend or not. I'll be back when the price is right.

One of my favorite stops near AC...

The Vineyard course is always a favorite of mine. I've played it at least ten times, and I'll be back a few more times soon. It's very challenging, but also playable for every handicap. There's also a winery, hotel, and nice restaurant on the property... so significant others can be happy not even golfing. I love the course, and usually play a mix of the tips and 2nd in tees to play near 7,000 yards. I almost always get great values from this site, and leave a great round with two bottles of wine in hand. It's a win-win.

Glad I got there, don't need to get there again...

Played the Links for the first time in mid-August. The course was really wet from over-watering and chewed up. It was an exceptionally windy day, but evidently 25 mph wind is a regular expectation on this course. The course is pretty short, and winds around the houses quite a bit. I always try to enjoy myself out there, so it's not like I had a terrible time... but I certainly don't need to head back anytime soon.

Perfect for early afternoon play...

I played Harbor Pines for the first time on a mid-August afternoon as a single. The course was pretty open at the time, so the round was fairly speedy. The conditions were a little chewed up, but certainly passable... and the layout was nice. Old-school AC... which I really like. I would definitely visit again for the right price during the week.
