Palmer at Oasis Golf Club
Played On 01/30/2022Mesquite Golf
Overall the the course was good w/ some dramatic elevation changes. The tees, fairways and greens were over seeded...BUT areas around greens we’re 3” dormant Bermuda and hard pan. Miss a green and good luck getting up & down. Greens were quick, don’t be above the pin w/ a front flag.
Sand Valley Golf Resort - Sand Valley Course
Played On 09/12/2019Great links like resort
Played both courses 2x in mid September 2019. Conditions were excellent, caddies did a great job and kept pace of play moving. Courses are very deceptive and must follow caddies direction. We had a group of 8 and there’s is always one guy who thinks he knows more than the caddies and complains his caddie was giving bad reads.
We rented 2 fantastic houses each with 4 bedrooms and 4 private baths. The one disappointing aspect is only 1 restaurant on property, and it can get crowded for dinner. Food was good and nice selection on menu. Have to experience Wisconsin cheese curds.
Great trip, look forward to returning soon.
The Club at Starr Pass - Rattler/Coyote
Played On 04/02/2019Challenging mountain track
Played roadrunner/coyote. Conditions were good, very green w/ overseeing, no rough, Bermuda still dormant. Played in 3:45 hours even w/ a 20 minute wait for a sandwich at the turn.. Must keep the ball in the green grass. The desert is extremely dence and ugly..
River Run Golf Course
Played On 09/10/2017Needs some work
Course is in a low area and wet. No rain in over a week and still wet. Cart path only. Tees were in poor condition, many fairways had dead black spots and were not mowed lately. Greens were in good condition and firm. Would not rush back to play again.
Eagle's Landing
Played On 09/09/2017Interesting layout
Course wraps around the airport so lots of activity. Greens had just been aerated which should have been noted by golf now when booking. Pro Shop did reduce fee by $20. Pace of play was SLOW. Par 3s on back 9 had 3 sometimes 4 groups on same hole. Had to leave after 15 holes took 4 1/2 hours. Guess that is to be expected on a weekend public course. Overall would return on a weekday.
The Club at Starr Pass - Rattler/Coyote
Played On 04/19/2017Tough Desert Course
Really enjoyed playing the Rattler and Roadrunner courses. Rattler is fairly generous off the tee, but just every approach had a carry to the green, w/ little bail out room. The non-green desert area's dense and unplayable. Forget about looking for a wayward ball. Was a fun course, in good condition, looking forward to plying it again.
Old Marsh Country Club
Played On 09/09/2016Golf in Southern Maine
Great spot in southern Maine, close to the beaches and easy drive up from Mass. Nice putting and chipping green but NO range to warm up.
Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club - Grizzly/Kodiak Course
Played On 08/01/2016Near the beaches
Fun Course, 3 9 hole tracts. Fairways are somewhat spongy and wet in low areas. Range is mats only, but a nice chipping green.
Quarry Pines Golf Club
Played On 03/30/2016Quarry pines
Great track at a good price. The back 9 weaves around a deep quarry with dramatic elevation changes. Unlike most AZ courses it has rough which is lush.
Sewailo Golf Club
Played On 03/29/2016Home of AU Golf
Beautiful track, excellently maintained, professionally operated. Staff was very helpful for our 1st visit, provided all the necessary info to navigate the terrain. Water on 10 holes which is unusual for AZ. It does come into play, partially if the wind is blowing. Looking forward to playing again when I return to AZ.
SaddleBrooke Ranch Golf Club
Played On 03/28/2016Uninteresting
Front 9 very bland. Every hole is the same, flat, straight and unremarkable. Back 9 is more interesting, some elevation changes & dog legs on a couple of holes. Greens were in good shape but slow. It is a new course and hopefully will improve over time. I would not return. Too many other good courses near by.
Mount Washington at Mount Washington Hotel & Resort
Played On 08/26/2015Mt. Washington Golf
Both courses are worth the trip to the White Mountains and the constant presence of Mt Washington. There are a number of other courses w/ in a 30 minute drive making an over night trip a good option.
Cape Neddick Country Club
Played On 07/05/2015Cape Neddick
The 1st time the front is tricky, many blind shots to unknown green positions. Back is more traditional. Greens were in good condition, but a bit slow.
Trilogy Golf Club at Vistancia
Played On 04/21/2014Nice Facility in Gated Community
Fun course, firm fairways & greens lots of run. No rough, miss the fairway and the ball will run till it is in the desert. Deep fairway bunkers w/ high front lips. Avoid them if at all possible. 3rd hole is a killer.
Preserve Golf Course
Played On 04/18/20141st Trip to The Preserve
Spectacular views of the rugged mountains, dramatic elevation changes, every hole is different. Course is in good condition, fast undulating greens, do not be above the hole. Will return, enjoyed the day.
Range balls were $4.50/bucket and only about 15 balls in the bucket. Weather was not great, I think it was the only day all year it rained in Tucson.
You can warm up into the screens....not the best setup for it does the job
