Kiln Creek Golf Club & Resort
Played On 03/08/2016Dormant fairways
This course will be beautiful after being properly watered and everything is green. Tee boxes and fairways were brown during its dormant season. The putting greens were in very good shape. Nice layout. Not difficult for the average golfers.

Beautiful back drop of the blue ridge mountains. Course is fun to play. Challenging for all skill levels. Bunkers were washed out from previous rain storms and need repair. Staff is friendly and very accommodating . Great course for the value.
Maryland National Golf Club
Played On 09/14/2015Deserves respect
This course has a beautiful layout with challenging elevation changes and undulating fairways. You can see the pride put into offering a very attractive track, well maintained for optimal play. It is a shame that golfers don't respect this and make attempts to repair ball marks on the green. Improper replacement of flagsticks left almost every hole with cup damages. Golfers who don't practice golf etiquette 101 should not be aloud on any course let alone a gem like Maryland National.
A few bad apples spoil it for the rest of us.
Augustine Golf Club
Played On 09/02/2015worth the trip
You never know what to expect heading south on 95 at anytime of the day. Traffic is constant. Once you arrive at this course there is a reward. Quiet golf round with challenging opportunities for an enjoying day. The course is well maintained and offers great golf to all levels of play. Flag locations on the greens can offer difficult putts. Don't over read the breaks. Some blind tee shots make it wiser to leave the driver in the bag. Play to your distance for optimal approach shots.
Potomac Ridge - Meadows Course
Played On 06/22/2015Three (9) hole courses offer variety
Being able to mix up 9 hole tandems offer a new look each time you play 18, but don't look to be able to choose your course. You will be directed as to which courses to play, Hopefully, you get the opportunity to play variations of the three courses. Played the "Meadows" and "Hollow" courses. Conditions were good and are showing improvements in the works. Did not get to play the "Ridge" course. Maybe next time, hopefully, for some variety.
Forest Greens Golf Club
Played On 06/15/2015Worth the drive
You never know what to expect with traffic headed South on 95. On a good day this trip to the course is well worth the travel. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Course is in good condition. Pace of play moves well. Bugs, bugs, bugs beetles must be in season and if you venture under trees be sure to check for tics when you get home. Challenging course that lets you bomb away and test your short game.
White Plains Golf Course
Played On 06/07/2015Public course with potential
Excellent for the money. The course, as many do, needed grooming. Fairways were patchy, but don't complain. Roll your ball to a tuft of grass and play on. Greens roll very slow so just adjust your putting stroke accordingly and you will make your putts. Nice layout. Driver off the tee is not always your best option. Play to your yardage for your approach shot and you will have an enjoyable round. Don't mind the race noise.
Fort Belvoir Golf Club - Gunston Course
Played On 06/01/2015A work in progress
First off, know to add an extra 45 minutes to your travel time because a pass is required for civilians entering the base. Once at the course the staff is friendly enough and offer a lot of information on how to navigate around the facilities. Pay attention. Course is under redesign and improvements. Not any where near a complete product but will be a Gem when completed. Four sets of nine holes will be inviting.

Under new ownership. Met Lonnie, one of the new principles in the parking lot. Made us feel extremely welcomed and appreciated for choosing to play here. Big plus. Friendly staff conveyed the same atmosphere. Course is undergoing some renovations and will be a huge success of a Gem when complete. Be patient. Support this local course owned by members of the community. This will be a top 10 course when revisions are complete.
Pohick Bay Golf Course
Played On 05/20/2015course mangement required
Bombs away off the tee not always required. Smart tee shots to specific locations goes along way. Hit to your desired yardage locale and you will enjoy this course. Nice forced carries offer challenges. Strategic pin placements offer challenges too. Course is in great condition. Pace of play may be an issue. Play with patients and enjoy the day.
General's Ridge Golf Course
Played On 05/15/2015Good course management required
Course offers options to bomb away or sometimes to play smart and play to a required distance locale. Using driver does not always mean the best placement for your approach shot. Sometimes less is better. Play smart and conservative at times and you will enjoy this course much more.
Ospreys Golf Club at Belmont Bay, The
Played On 05/13/2015A gem close to home
First off, the entire staff needs to be commended on their efforts to make golfers feel welcome and appreciated for choosing to play at Osprey. They make you want to come back and enjoy their facilities. The course is in great shape for the early season (with regards to hole 17 that is under redesign do to other construction on the property) I highly recommend this course to both novice and advanced golfers. A true gem close to home.
Worst customer service experience ever in my lifetime
Front Royal Golf Course would not honor my Golfnow online tee time booking. I was told that a cart would not be available for my reservation and they did not know when and if one would. They hold carts for customers who only book directly with the club. Be prepared to be turned down after confirmation of your Golfnow booking. Their manager claims it is smart business to only deal with golfers who book directly with the club.
Montclair Country Club
Played On 04/28/2015Nice facility with potential
The course is obviously under some sort of improvement process to bring back better conditions. Once complete the course will be much more enjoyable. Fairways have a way to go, greens are close to good condition. Always enjoy this challenging course and the staff is always very friendly and accommodating.
The Rockland Farm Course at Shenandoah Valley
