Cow Pasture golf

Lake Whitney looks to have been a decent golf course in the past. Today the course appears to receive little if any maintenance. The layout is somewhat interesting, although very poorly marked. The greens are postage stamps - and hard as a rock. Fairways also hard as cement. Your only hope was to club down and hope and try and guess the bounce and roll. I payed $10 bucks to play it and went primarily to practice. If you are looking to play real golf - this is not the place!!

Very Slow!!!!

I was born and raised on Long Island, and Crab Meadow was the course I played when I took golf up some 35 years ago. The course itself is extremely picturesque (several holes on the back 9 have the LI Sound as a back drop!!). Greens are a little slow for me, but my real complaint is pace of play. Yesterday's round took some 5.5 hrs and we literally had to wait on every shot!! I did see a ranger riding the course, but he did nothing to move people along. If you have never played Crab Meadow, you should. As for me, I won't be returning for a while because slow play is just not fun for me.

CC at Siver Springs Shores is a good, basic, Florida golf course. Started round paired with a slower twosome and elected to play on alone as there was no one on the course. Was greeted on the way to the tenth tee by the manager who made a BIG issue out of my electing to leave the original pairing. I asked him to explain why there should be an issue as my action effected no one. I then asked if I should wait on the 10th tee for the slower twosome. He told me to play on but that the general manager would speak with me. When returning the cart after the round, the GM told me I was no longer welcome to play the course because I 'gave his staff a hard time'. It seems these folks really have an attitude problem. I will be calling Golf Now to recount my poor treatment at this facility. The course layout is nice. Condition is somewhat poor. If you play here, beware of a staff that is not very friendly, especially if you booked on Golf Now.

Penn State Blue course is one of the finest in the State College.

The Blue Course at Penn State University is one of the best tracks in the area. The course is well maintained, and is reasonably priced. The internet special allows folks to play the Blue Course Mon - Thurs (after 11 AM) for $35. Considering that Mountain View is asking $49..this is a really bargain. The course is challenging from the White Tees, difficult from the Blue Tees, and I suspect the pros would have all they can handle from the Black Tees. This is a course you want to play!!
