Timacuan Golf Club
Played On 08/22/2018Just a great course...
This is an excellent, very challenging course. Layout is spectacular, with appealing lines and topography. Be prepared to work it both ways off the tee, and use every iron in bag at some point. The greens are perhaps the best among the courses we play regularly, somewhat grainy but receptive and rolling true, and are so filled with subtle breaks you can't wait to get to the next one to redeem yourself for a misread. Pay attention to the grain!
Just a great course...
Stoneybrook East Golf Course
Played On 10/18/2017An unexpected round.
We went away from this course years ago due to inflated rates and a hoity-toity vibe, mixed with poor maintenance. But now? I'm giving it another chance.
It was in rather good shape, and the greens fully surprised me in their acceptance of shots played well. The long cart drives between some holes just add to the mystique. I liked what I saw and remembered.
Well...except for the clubhouse, if that's what it is. The bathroom was a disaster, and that's ok I suppose. I don't golf in there. But still...yikes!

This course is joyous and maddening, in mostly the good ways if you consider yourself a golfer.
Everyone is friendly, from the bartenders to the guy that wants to clean your sticks after you finish. That's rare. We politely declined the club wash, cause we clean our own clubs after every shot, but it's still a nice touch. He didn't ask me what I shot though.
The course? The greens are the strength of it. The layout is what it is, and so you must abide off the tee. Unless you know where to hit it and how to hit, you're in a bad place. But then, the greens roll true. So I hope you can putt, and if you have confidence in such ability, you shall score beneath your handicap. Good greens are very important.
I shot 73.
