Kenwanda Golf Course
Played On 10/5/2013OK for beginners
We played this late in the season on a rare sunny day after a week of rain. Greens were aerated and much of the course was "mushy" -- especially downhill on 7 and 11. As beginners, we found it friendly, good pace of play and moderately challenging. However, this course has many very challenging greens, despite the lack of bunkers. The fairways are difficult to distinguish from the rough in many places and overall it seems like the course could use some attention but that could be due to time of the year. However, the price was fantastic and the staff and other players were cordial and accommodating. I'd recommend this course but with the caveat that it's best to find a Hot Deal rather than paying full-price.
Willows Run Golf Club - Heron Links Course
Played On 9/21/2013Great Par 3 made better by a Hot Deal!
Heron Links is always a safe bet for a quick 9 on a par-3 even if a bit busy. Course is usually well maintained -- only issue is with goose scat that can get pretty nasty at times. They do a good job of staying ahead of it and on this day, it was very clean. Pace of play is quick unless there is a school group ahead of you. You'll get that a lot in the summer -- especially around mid-day and early afternoon. $11 on weekdays and $14 on weekends is a decent price, but GolfNow will occasionally have deep discounts for a mid-day tee time. I've played for as little as $4 before booking fees. Bottom line is it's a good value at full price and a steal on special not to mention it's a great way to get your short game practice in on a tight schedule
