Peel Village Golf Club
Played On 05/22/2021Great Little Municipal Course
This place is a hidden gem. Never knew it existed until it showed up on golf now a few days ago. I was very impressed with how well maintained, and how beautifully laid out it was. Very walkable too.
It's not particularly challenging - unless you golf like me - but has enough variance to keep it from being easy. Greens were a bit slow, but aside from that we really enjoyed our round. Solid pace of play, and staff were friendly.
Recommended without hesitation for anyone wanting to go for a worthwhile 9.
Flamborough Hills Golf and Country Club - Hills/Woods
Played On 08/09/2020Decent Track, Would Give It Another Go
This hasn't been my favourite of the new courses I have tried this year. Nothing wrong with it at all - far from it. There are 3 x 9 hole courses, with the two we played well laid out and in good condition, but they were also nothing to really stand out in the memory. We had the misfortune of playing behind a beginner, and very slow, foursome which killed some of the vibe, but I would give this course another try at some point.

The undulation and overall layout make it a decent challenge, and some fairways can be tight, or a bit illogical necessitating smart golf over power, but the course is always in great shape, and I always have an enjoyable round playing it. It's light on the bunkers, which is great, and the vistas are phenomenal.
Knollwood Golf Club - New

Disappointing experience here. The course was in poor shape with the greens being particularly rough - very patchy and carpet-like. The layout already is rather poor, but the conditions made it unpleasant. There were some nice holes that redeemed the experience somewhat, but unless there is a smoking deal on (sub $30 for 18), I would be remiss to return.
Lowville Golf Club
Played On 06/20/2020A Beautiful Track
The layout of the course is spectacular, and you'll be getting some seriously great vistas throughout the round. The course itself is narrow, undulating, and relatively short. If you're a bomber it won't pose much of a challenge, so long as you hit straight. Going even slightly off-line are times will leave you on another fairway, but it allows for a playable shot more often than not.
Conditions were excellent, with the greens quite fast. Pace was very good on the whole. We enjoyed the round and would look again. A bit pricey at $70 without a cart for a 3:30 tee, but also not unreasonable.
Burlington Springs Golf Club
Played On 07/14/2019Great All Around Vibe
My round at Burlington Springs was one of the most enjoyable of the year thus far. The course was moderately challenging, with the greens particularly tricky on certain holes, and was very well laid out and maintained on the whole. The staff were fantastic through and through (friendly, helpful, knowledgeable), and perhaps I just got lucky, but every one we encountered was in a great mood, and just generally pleasant.
I am looking forward to coming back to play here even though it's about a 45 minute drive from where I live. Easy recommendation.
Whistle Bear Golf Club
Played On 07/06/2019One of the best courses in SWO
This is one of the nicest courses in the whole of Southern Ontario. Impeccably maintained, challenging, and an absolute blast to play.
A lot of the holes play like links style, so if you're not a straight hitter, it may be a long day for you. The fescue is thick, and even if you do manage to find your ball, it won't be an easy out. Bunkers line nearly every hole, which adds additional challenges to each one, and the rolling terrain will ensure you're never quite content to rest on your laurels.
This course will make you a better golfer though. I've played multiple times now and use every single club in my bag multiple times. You can't just bomb your way through, pitch onto the green, and putt out. You will be forced to play strategically, and shape your shots accordingly. It's brilliant.
Staff is incredible, and the 19th hole is one of the nicer ones around. A ton of options for both food and drink, with high caliber chefs designing the menu.
This is a private course, so you will need an invite from a member to play, but when it comes, take it. You won't regret the decision.
