Waterloo Golf Academy
Played On 05/19/2016How an advertised $9 game ended up costing $50+
Yes i am still scratching my head on this one. We did arrive late due to the GPS taking us to a camp ground instead of the golf course. We entered the address using the postal code and we ended up at the gates of a camp ground. There has been a lot of new homes being built in the area of the golf course, last time I played there it was still farm land. We tried programing the GPS again an ended up in a new subdivision. The GPS gave directions to a traffic circle and told us to take the second exit, which turned out to be a walking path. We finally tried using our knowledge and found the golf course. I presented my print out to the clerk and told him we would need a riding golf cart. There were new ones there but we ended up with a balky older cart. Now the bill was $58.90
Apollo Beach Golf & Sea Club
Played On 01/13/2016Very Friendly people and staff.
My wife and I are in our 87 & 83 rd year. So we found the course a bit long. We had no trouble with the water hazards, but we hit pretty straight down the middle shots. Par 5's are a little to much for us, but we do play boggie golf. We are more suited to an executive course than a regular golf course. The weather was cool but we wore jackets and were quite comfortable. The staff were friendly wouldn't hesitate to go back. the bunkers could use some work. Enjoyed our selves No one behind or infront of us.
Saginaw Golf Club - The Vista
Played On 06/20/2014I will be back
My wife and I are in our 80 + years and we usually only do nine holes. It was a perfect day for golf and we got to use our irons exclusively. Good practice around the greens. I look forward to playing this course again. Sure sharpens your short game. The staff were very nice. Around the seventh hole we caught up to a four some that invited us to play through. The only thing is there is no shade in the parking lot and the car was like an oven when we returned. We didn't use the dining facilities and so the Question doesn't apply.
River Run Golf Links
Played On 02/04/2014It is the only course where I have seen the back 9
become the front nine. Always enjoy playing River Run. I guess familiarity gives you a certain amount of confidence. I noticed, it would be hard not to that two bridges have been upgraded. Might I suggest that an additional two signs giving distance to the landing spots on four and five would be helpful in club selection. I guess those of us that have played the course have discovered by trial and error which club to play from the tee. The staff are great people. I was so anxious to get out and play I forgot to park my car. the Marshall came out and got my keys and parked the car for me. That is service with a smile.
The River Club
Played On 12/27/2013I didn't know a course like this exsisted in Florida
Dear Sir,
My wife and I are in our mid 80's and so the long drives would take us 3 strokes before we would reach the greens from the reds. Great course for long hitters. The only other problem we had was finding the next tee in some cases. I think it was hole 5. I think you refer to your 9th hole as a signature hole. I ended up playing through the bunker that runs along side the fairway. Otherwise I'm sure my ball would have run down the slope to the rough. The greens and fairways were in great shape. i 'm not sure we would play this course again, but since this was our first game on this course we played cautious. Having some knowledge of the course, we might be a little less cautious. Personally I found the course challenging.
Terra Ceia Bay Golf & Tennis Club
Played On 12/24/2013Still a challenge.
I have played this course many times. The hole I have difficulty with is number 2. From the tee you carry water most of the way. The pin is always behind a bunker. the distance should be an easy drive. But for some reason this hole psych's me out. Because of this hole I stopped playing Terra ceia. In my estimation, this year I have been playing pretty good golf So, I thought I would try playing Terra Ceia once more. I was looking forward to playing #2. It was a disaster. I tried a 5 iron and put three balls in the water. Went up to 3 iron and over shot the green. There is something about that hole that puts my golf off. For the remainder of the course there is a lot of water that comes into play, and I have very little trouble with those holes. If you know the course I played when bulrushes use to hide the landing spots. However that is a longtime ago. the course is well maintained and is fun to play. Something for the long hitters and can challenge your ability. My wife had a hole in one on the 16th. Watch out for the gators.
Peridia Golf & Country Club
Played On 04/08/2013Perdia, Gofl Course
We were well received by the staff, very cordial. Even the players we met were pleasant. the greens are tricky and are difficult to read. We found some greens to be fast and then some were slow? My wife and I are in our 80's and this course suited my wife to a tee. I prefer longer fairways. But Perdia is still challenging. You better be good with your short irons.
All around a great game and we are booked in for tomorrow, hope it isn't as hot as on Monday.
Imperial Lakes Golf & Country Club
Played On 4/3/2013Most of the water holes have dried up, neds rain
Considering the lack of rain or irrigation, the course has stood up well to the winter season. I found the 15th and 16th holes interesting, They both had character not seen often in Florida. The greens were well protected by trees and it required staying in the fairways to avoid them. If the course was closer to where I live I would definitely play it more often.
Sarasota Golf Club
Played On 3/15/2013Very busy golf course.
Sitting waiting for a golf cart, I couldn't help but observe the amount of traffic in and around the clubhouse. It amazes me that there aren't more cart accidents. Some drive like it was a raceway. God help anyone that steps infront of a cart, they would be hurt. We found the couple we were paired with from Kentucky delightful. Those that followed us on the course were patient. It was a beautiful day and the greens looked good for the traffic.
The Links at Greenfield Plantation
Played On 03/11/2013We only played nine holes so it might have taken 5 hrs to play 18
One of our favourite courses here in Manatee. Played many time in the past.
Hi "BillTrent" Thank you so much for the great review! We are so glad that you enjoyed your round today with your wife. The course can be challenging if you do not bring your A game, but its nice to hear that you had fun. Please come back and visit us again on your next trip from Canada.
