Sterling Grove Golf & Country Club
Played On 02/18/2022So so layout and crazy greens = Meh
This is the third time playing this course. There is so much house construction going on right on many holes, that I think over time, the course is going to feel really closed in. I knew the greens have crazy undulations really for no reason, but it seemed to bug me even more the third time. Greens were not very fast at all, not sure why they’ve decided to slow them down? Some of the fairways are not in great shape with very thin grass on hard dirt. Maybe not watering very much? Also, getting food at the turn is a joke. Takes forever to drive over to the club house, and we played on a Friday, and saw the cart person on #2, them not till #15. They need to fix this. Slows play if you can’t reliably get food at the turn.
Wigwam Resort - Red Course
Played On 12/23/2020Best of the three Wigwam Courses
What a surprise- had played the gold and blue courses before but this one is the most interesting and added bonus are brand new huge mansions along the course - fun to look at. Would definitely recommend playing and will play again. Greens run true albeit on the slow side but that may have to do with the amount of play and time of day playing (later in in the day more wear & tear).
Verrado Golf Club - Victory Course
Played On 10/15/2020Great Condi
Great conditions post over seeding. Pace of play was ok.
Legend at Arrowhead, The
Played On 02/14/2020Nice Layout and Good Greens bit VERY Run Down
My first time at this course.
+ The course layout is interesting, challenging and fair
- Driving range condition is horrid. Almost no grass to stand on or hit off of
+ Greens were in good shape albeit a bit fluffy. Challenging pin placements and multi tiered greens will keep your attention
- Tee boxes - many are ratty - infilled divots, broken tees, cigarette butts, etc
- pace of play > S L O W! We tees off at 12:45 on a Friday and took us 4hours 45 minutes and waited on every tee box and green (we were a foursome).
- Common areas - in need of TLC. Seems like people who maintain this course don’t care to keep it nice. They just do what ever they get paid to do. Too bad, because the overall track could be really nice.
Eagle's Nest Country Club at Pebble Creek Resort
Played On 10/26/2019Bailed after 9 Holes!
Do NOT play this course on the weekend unless you enjoy a 5+ hour round, players who are playing ready golf, and staff that just says “yeah, it’s crowded out there”. Probably not book here again with so many options in the Valley.
Corte Bella Golf Club
Played On 05/18/2019Decent Course - Nothing Special
Probably a bit more challenging than your average retirement desert course. Plenty of water and bathrooms which is appreciated. Good value and nobody in front of us for a 12:40 tee time on a Saturday.
Wigwam Resort - Blue Course
Played On 05/10/20193 Hour Round!
Had fun at the Blue course today. Played from the black so challenging enough distance wise. All twosomes it seemed (including us) so we finished in 3 hours (Tuesday 11am tee time). Greens are nice and deceptively small so watch your distances into the green. Course in nice shape and appreciate the range balls being included.
Rancho Manana Golf Club
Played On 05/06/2019Great Vistas - interesting holes but...
For short hitters this might be one of the best options in the Valley, but for everyone else, perhaps too short and target-like for full enjoyment. Also, the staff is not overly welcoming including the extra $6 for range balls.
Verrado Golf Club - Victory Course
Played On 10/16/2018Challenging but Fair
For a "resort" course, this has some of the best views in AZ. Fairways are wide enough for slightly errant tee shots, greens are fast and roll true even a couple weeks from overseeing. Recommended!
SunRidge Canyon Golf Club
Played On 5/15/2013Needs Watering and Weeding
Played Wednesday morning. Great hat no one in front of us other than a few singles so pace was great. Course is very brown on most holes with weeds in tee box areas. Not what I expect from a course of this caliber.
Legend Trail Golf Club
Played On 5/13/2013Nice Scenery
Almost every hole requires a lengthy carry from the tee to avoid the desert junk. Very nice surroundings but overall cold have been better. Pace of play for a Tuesday was very slow. Had to skip by four groups just to play at a normal pace.
Faldo at Wildfire Golf Club at Desert Ridge Resort
Played On 5/12/2013Pretty nice
Pace was a little slow but overall good course for GolfNow deal. Would not have been worth full price. Love the GPS on carts
Osoyoos Golf and Country Club - Desert Gold
Played On 8/26/2012Challenging but Fair - play the Gold course Only
Other than holes 1, 17, and 18, this course feels like a desert course in Arizona. Nice elevation changes and interesting placement shots that require good club selection. The afore mentioned holes are basic muni-course boring holes.
Well worth the money and good challenge for all handicaps. You will like the elevation changes it makes you think your way around. The clubhouse also has good meals. The only downside is the snack shack closes a little to early
