Country Club of Missouri, The
Played On 07/21/2018Exceptional Club experience in the heart of Como!
Superb Private Country Club with a rich history. Focus perfectly placed upon social & family leisure, centered around the athletics.
The course is one of my favorites in the city of Columbia, and you'll always find the course conditions and experience top shelf. Friendly, warm, knowledgeable and attractive staff are always right there with a smile and courteous assistance.
Excellent clubhouse, stocked pro shop, big luxurious swimming pool, large tennis courts, fine dining, and well appointed/attended locker rooms. Highest caliber instructors available for private lessons.
Most recommended for anyone looking for the quintessential country club home!
Eagle Knoll Golf Club
Played On 09/14/2017shooter's challenge
Eagle Knoll has a great layout, lots of elevation change, dramatic views and embodies just the right amount of challenge - you have to be a shooter and place your shots!
Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the clubhouse is nice - quaint and adequately stocked. The restaurant and bar are typical for a unpretentious, public GC.
If you can go low here, you can do it anywhere!
Osage National Golf Club - The Mountain/Links Course
Played On 08/26/2017What a treat!
When I saw this come up in GN as a $20 hot deal, I couldn't resist - I honestly thought it was a mistake because every other Tee time was $89 - 120!
Upon driving thru the winding hills and valley coming up clubhouse drive, you finally round the bend and get a grand view of the spectacular clubhouse, amazing pool, and properties on it.
Check in was a little wierd, because I followed the bag drop signs around the clubhouse, then where the bag guys and drop was located, was packed with carts from groups of golfers making the turn or getting drinks in the clubhouse etc. It felt like I was not supposed to be driving there, but the bag guy assured me I was, it was all the golfers parking their carts in the drive that were in the wrong. I dropped my clubs, went around and parked, then came into the clubhouse to look around and check in.
Loved the vibe inside the clubhouse, as this is an Arnold Palmer joint thru and thru. Lots of cool golf history hanging on the walls, photos and memorabilia etc. The restroom/locker-room was very very classy.
Checked in at the pro shop, Cole was very nice and gave me a little chat about the course etc. It's a set of 3, 9 hole courses, each with different layout, views and challenges - that's when i found out I was playing 27 holes on a PGA caliber course for $20! The pro shop was very well stocked and the prices were very reasonable (surprisingly!) The restaurant and bar was very nice, with a big covered porch overlooking the splendor of the valley and pool etc. -see pics - Jumped on my cart and followed the signs to start my day on THE RIVER course...
I'll just summarize the first nine as amazing - the conditions were prime and the course was immaculate - layout was very fun and challenging. I felt like a kid in a candy store! I had a tough time getting my head in the game because I was busy gawking at the views! After my first 9, we decided to jump in the pool in between hitting the next 9 (it was almost 90 heat index) The pool was SUPER clean and refreshing! (it cost $5 to swim - I had to walk up to the clubhouse to use the ATM to pay though - they didn't accept card at the pool cabana/snack bar)
SO WORTH IT! my daughter and I lounged in the pool for a good hour before deciding to get back at it! almost forgot I was there to golf! It was sooooo nice and the view from the pool is heaven and pure luxury. The only detraction was the changing room/restroom at the pool - it was surprisingly disgusting! They need to bleach that bad boy because it reeked like an outhouse and the floor was GROSS. no excuse for this huge blind spot - management needs to scrutinize this area.
So on to the MOUNTAIN 9 - driving the cart a short way thru condo village, we reached box 1, and again the views and layout was stunning...and it just keeps getting better from there - every successive hole was more spectacular than the next - there are some very dramatic canyon shots down the mountain, and a few going back up and down some big elevation changes. Another amazing hole was #5 - what a fun beauty!
You tee off blind on this big, high par 5, and when you're coming up to your shot
you see an incredible view...a giant staircase leading 175 - 200 yards downhill to the green- if you can thread your tee shot down the middle with no fade/draw, you could feasible run it all the way down to a short approach!
We loved this outing and will be back for sure!
Pine Hills Golf Course
Played On 04/25/2017a real gem between Flushing and Saginaw
Had a blast visiting Briar Ridge today - the GM, George, was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and made me feel welcome as a first time visitor. The unassuming clubhouse is surprising well appointed, as was the pro shop/check-in area. I didn't get a chance to sample any food this time, but will on my next visit to rate my favorite dine and compare items (cheeseburger + fries!) The course really struck me as being in remarkable shape for it being opening week, and the near invisible and courteous grounds crews were out in full force keeping the boxes, fairways, and greens in the best shape as possible. The track plays somewhere between easy to moderate challenge, which for me, early in the season, was a relief as I golfed pretty good today. You can never complain too much when your drives are mostly in the middle and your irons are clicking! Overall, I had a really fun time and enjoyed the round very much - I will be returning near mid season to see how nice things can improve over the early season, but very acceptable, conditions.

one of my favorite courses - gorgeous clubhouse and well maintained grounds - challenging but not frustrating
Swan Valley Golf Course
Played On 08/26/2016Unfortunately Average
I moved into the neighborhood last year, and had alot of optimism and high expectations for this course - it's in a beautiful location, nestled between condos and small subdivisions of nicer homes. I must say, I really enjoy the putting green location to practice at - they have a beautiful pond/fountain as the centerpiece, and in the evening it is gorgeous back there with the sunset! First impressions mean alot, and this was a time that the course 'regulars' made a bad impression. I had my 11 year old son who is learning the game with me, but it did not deter the group of golfers who were drunk in and around the clubhouse, loudly cursing and being pretty obnoxious. As far as the course, they do not offer a military/veteran discount, and for the money ($38 with cart) the course is just an average challenge, nothing terribly unique or noteworthy due to the poorly maintained fairways and greens - potholes, mole tunnels, standing water/mud , and dead grass abounds. I was rather disappointed by the lack of value for the price, compared to other much nicer & friendlier choices in courses nearby. I will be giving it another chance this spring to see if it was a fluke and will re-review. go low! D~
Kimberley Oaks Golf Course
Played On 07/05/2016challenge for the novice
beautiful country style layout (think narrow, plays long, and heavily wooded) friendly staff, medium to slow greens - great food and drinks - a few rough spots on the course but the weather has been hard on it this season
