El Prado Golf Courses - Butterfield Stage
Played On 08/14/2017Rugged, but cheap
This is the uglier, stinkier cousin to Chino Creek side, but it's a full length golf course and dirt cheap.
Fairways are raggedy and the greens are super soft.
Cart paths are rutted dirt and the carts are ancient.
Pro tip: Skip the cart and walk. You'll save yourself $8, a migraine and your clubs being banged around.
The Santaluz Club
Played On 07/31/2017Great conditions, but ho-hum layout
Played w/ SCGA outing.
Upscale private course. Course conditions were excellent. Course plays fairly easy (played middle tees) with generous fairways and tame greens. I scored well.
Can't recall many of the holes as the layout isn't that inspired, but the staff and facilities were excellent. Good breakfast burrito.
The Farms Golf Club
Played On 10/14/2016High class
Some pretty pristine golf. Conditions near perfect. Great layout. Course is surrounded by what appear to be empty mansions (probably winter homes or something for the rich), but you get a sense of solitude and quiet since the course is likely never heavily trafficked.
The Country Club at Soboba Springs
Played On 04/06/2016Underwhelmed
Maybe I just didn't get it. I drove out from L.A. area hoping for some great gem of a course but I found it to be quite dull.
Candlewood Country Club

This is musty old country club, like walking into your 80 yo grandpa's house that hasn't been updated in a few decades.
The front 9 is pretty decent, but the back 9 is boring as can be, with back and forth parallel fairways.

Played here during SCGA Outing.

I was impressed with the golf course. It has a varied and interesting layout and is consistent from start to finish. Elevation changes, different looks off of the tee keep the holes fresh. The bunkering is great, and the greens are tricky to read. Many of the holes are pretty tight, with moderately thick tree lines forcing you to keep it straight or play conservatively. Course conditions were very good.
Palm Lake Golf Course

Where else can you see a coyote roaming the parking lot, hit a neighbor's dog with a ricochet and find an escaped yard chicken guarding the first tee?
This is a dirt cheap 9-holer in a working class neighborhood, good for practice. They have a full length driving range. Ghetto golf at it's classiest.
Hidden Valley Golf Club
Played On 05/01/2015Great value
Excellent layout, good facilities. Lots of great deals to be found. One of the best values in the IE. Course has high slope ratings for a reason, can be very challenging for high cap golfers, with forced carries and some tight holes. Don't be afraid to play the whites here, even though only 5772 yards. Doesn't feel like it, and offers a lot of risk/reward.
Coyote Hills Golf Course
Played On 08/13/2014Best layout in the area
Course used to be private, but they've opened it up to the public.
I love this course. It's one of my favorites. The reason is the layout. I think it's the most varied yet cohesive layout in the area and includes the little unique hole elements that make a course memorable. Favorite hole is par-3 14th.
