Jensen Beach Golf Club
Played On 06/08/2015Rediscovering an old friend
I decided to play Eagle Marsh after reading a recent review in a local golf newspaper, Tee Times. The writer, like me, had played this course after it opened and before homes were built around it. At that time, it was a fun & challenging course to play. In 2014, a new owner came in and has started to renovate the course. I understand the improvements are to be complete by October of 2015. Much still needs to be done: irrigation is spotty; there are several blind shots caused by overgrowth of trees and bushes; bunkers have little or no sand. Present prime time greens fees are too high for the condition of the course. Right now, this is a $25 course not $39 like they are charging. But this basic layout is good and I await the final product after all enhancements are complete.
Martin Downs Country Club - Osprey Creek Course
Played On 05/27/2014Will be back
It is that time of year in Florida when many have headed back north for the summer. That means lower prices and fewer golfers on some nice courses. This was my first time to play Martin Downs. It is certain that I will be back. Some course knowledge is required to play the course. Only negative was one of the mowers kept mowing despite the fact that we were trying to finish our round.
The Champions Club at Summerfield
Played On 01/28/2014Worth the price
I often judge golf courses by their price. This is a good $45 course during the prime playing season. While I prefer nearby Hammock Creek, this is a close 2nd. Nice layout. While there are homes built around the course, you don't see them but on a few holes.
Trevino at Geneva National Golf Club
Played On 10/1/2013Challenging but fair
While the course presents challenges for an 18 handicap like me, it is a fair course. There are few areas where you need to carry your shot. All aspects of the course were well maintained.
Gary Player at Geneva National Golf Club
Played On 4/26/2013Nice course with good amount of variation from hole to hole.
While the fairways are fairly generous, the water and trees on most holes make wayward shots a problem. Very few straight holes. A lot of left to right or right to left from both the tee box and fairways. It was a very windy day. Naturally, the course would have played much easier with less wind. Also, greens were somewhat hard this early in the season so it was tough getting a shot to the green to stick. Being early in the season, the trees have not yet budded. Course will be very picturesque in the summer and fall
Crane Watch Club
Played On 2/12/2013Based on other courses in the area, I would call this a $40 course.
Because it is primarily a "country club", distances are not well marked. With no GPS system, information on distances, hazzards, etc. would make round more enjoyable.Could use some type of beverage service - either on the course or at the turn.
Hammock Creek Golf Club
Played On 10/19/2012I play Hammock Creek often. It is my favorite course in the area.
I am a snowbird but I play Hammock Creek every chance I get. They are always accommodating and treat me and my friends like members. When I come out as a single, which is often, they always find a way to fit me in. I have played there when the economy and golf were booming and when the economy has been bad. Their attitude towards the nonmember golfer like myself does not change.
Fire Ridge Golf Club
Played On 5/6/2012Nice layout requires you to use all the clubs in your bag.
Due to the late, wet spring, course is not in the greatest shape. They are working on it and I think it will be in much better condition in a few weeks.
