Twisted Dune Golf Club
Played On 04/01/2022Tough course
Had first time of day, played a bit under 4 hours. Greens were ok but slow, but it is early season. Very windy, course long from whites for a senior, should play up. Back side much more interesting than front. Bring extra balls if you spray the ball. The tall fescue and scrub do not give up lost balls, at least yours. You'll find many others
Country Club of Whispering Pines - Pines Course
Played On 09/28/2018A favorite classic design
Played this course several times each fall for the past 40 years. It is in superb condition from tees through greens. Course has two par 5's we call the mother holes. You'll love em or hate them, but you'll want to play them again.
The course has accommodations, called the villas. Great for groups, you can get 8 interconnecting rooms.
The second course is a great design but needs green renovations
Country Club of Whispering Pines - River Course
Played On 09/24/2018Great layout but greens were terrible
Played this course every fall for 40 years. Love the layout. Lots of water. Unfortunately the greens were awful this year and we changed our bookings for the remainder of the trip. Will come back if they renovate the greens
Southern Pines Golf Club
Played On 09/23/2018Deteriorating conditions
Played here annually for over ten years. Great layout and used to be in great shape. Conditions are deteriorating. Greens were very neat up. Fairways ok but often thin. Tees need work. Cart paths are awful. My group will probably not go back next year unless course renovations are taken
International Club of Myrtle Beach
Played On 08/13/2017Nice course, reasonable price
I have played here often. Always enjoy it. Interesting layout. Lots of tee shots require thought about club selection, no an automatic driver. Greens are generally good. Now there are spots of an invasive grass here and there that affect putting. They should bite the bullet and kill those areas. The fairways are nice, but do not drain well. Greens fees are very reasonable.
Wild Wing Plantation - Avocet Course
Played On 11/14/2016Great Course and super conditions but be prepared for SLOW play
I love playing this course except for one reason I'll discuss at the end. The conditions are consistently some of the best in Myrtle Beach. Greens are always fabulous. The course can get wet, call ahead to check on cart restrictions as there can be a lot of walking on cart path only days.
It almost always takes 4.75 to 5 hours to play however. The rangers are useless and will never ask anyone to pick up pace of play. I prefer to call them course monitors, they tell you it is playing slow and why but do nothing about it.
Cart girl deal of the area: $5 for a hot dog and drink.
Little River Golf & Resort
Played On 09/17/2016An excellent layiout but Course needs to redo the greens
The course used to be a favorite, but it has been neglected, The bent grass greens can not stand up to summers anymore, course needs to bite the bullet and put in Bermuda greens. I understand the course is being sold so perhaps that will happen.
Wedgwood Country Club
Played On 05/19/2014Some really good holes
Wedgwood is a good course to play but I would not make a special long drive to do so. It is a little over priced. There are a couple really nice holes, #3, #12, #17 in particular. Conditions overall in this late spring were good though there were areas of some of the greens that you could see get stressed in the hot weather. Housing is along the left side of nearly every hole (none on the right side), but most are protected by old trees.
Seaview - The Pines Course
Played On 05/07/2014Wonderful Old School Course
This course is a good old course. It is not flashy or gimmicky. A solid course in great condition. Lots of dog legs, somewhat hilly, very little water. The service is top notch as is the old resort hotel there. A good choice if you are staying in Atlantic City
Twisted Dune Golf Club
Played On 03/16/2014Good course for winter play
This was a cool (40°F) windy day. The course is exposed (no trees except scrub pines) so you feel the wind. The greens and fairways were in very good condition, very playable and putt-able in spite of it being the end of the winter season. I am putting this on my winter play list from now on.
My report above praised the pines course, that is sometimes called by it's old name, the East course. The River or West course was terrible
Which course did you all play of the 2? Tks
