International Club of Myrtle Beach
Played On 04/13/2023Disappointing
It’s really a shame our golf experience wasn’t better because it is a nice layout. However, the employees were almost universally transplanted New Yorkers that were grumpy and apparently disgruntled. When they weren’t complaining about the owner/developer, they could be overheard whining about patrons or even co-employees. They sent our group off the back nine at around noon because they were overbooked, and the pace of play was no good. We had to wait behind guys just making the turn. Greens were very good, but areas just off the greens or fairway were bad. Nobody cared a bit. The driving range has been plowed under to make room for more cookie cutter cottages so no warm up was possible. The course was so overrun with players that we had to wait until our tee time to get bags in a cart. I can only assume the current owner plans to run it into the ground so he can build yet more homes on the property. For the same roughly $100, you can play Pawleys Island which is a fabulous experience by comparison.
Oak Hollow Golf Course
Played On 10/21/2017Great Value, Tough First Time Experience
The course is a very good value. It’s a Pete Dye course, pretty good shape and we played (foursome) in 4 hours flat. Our party was diverse—from 6–20 handicap. The only caveat is that this is one of those courses that will vex you if you play for the first time with nobody with course experience to coach you on shot selection and placement of shots to the greens. You can hit a great ball on approach 5 feet from the pin if it’s on the wrong side and roll 20 yards off the green! Really. The course from the tips is only about 6600 yards, but the trick is figuring out where to play on very hilly fairways and greens. Our green fees were really reasonable considering the quality of the course. Staff in the club house was very helpful. Recommend. Only negative was that yardage books were not available. They would have helped. I look forward to playing again with more knowledge.
Cleghorn Golf & Sports Club
Played On 02/21/2016Great Track
Despite slower than usual greens because of winter conditions, we thoroughly enjoyed playing here. It challenges every level of player off the tee with accuracy at a premium over distance on most holes, but we could actually use the driver. My only complaint is that some of the "regulars" play like molassas! It took almost 5 hours to finish, but it was a Sunday and lots of play on the course. It is a very nice layout and a real bargain. We'll be back.

Played On 02/19/2016Nice Value-Consistent COnditions
It is always fun to play here. The conditions, even in mid-winter-were good enough to have confidence in fairly consistent put speed and the fairways were fine though the grass was dormant. The fairways are very generous, and the course is not very long, but the greens are well protected and will require a good short game. Great value for the money and the course employees are always friendly and helpful.
Asheville Municipal Golf Course
Played On 09/22/2015Decent layout, terrible tee box and fairway conditions
Played the course and can't believe how badly the fairway and tee box grass have deteriorated! Many tee boxes were without ANY grass and most fairways are patchy at best with many good shots resulting in bare lies. I was really disappointed--much worse than I have seen this course in the past even this year. I only rated the value as high as "average" because I got a hot deal rate for my wife and me. If I had paid the usual rate I'd be upset.
Sorry that you had a bad day at our course. The golf course has been prepped for overseeding, which was done on 9/17, which is why the tee boxes and fairways were brown and thin. The rye grass should germinate in the next week and the course will be in great shape again. We hoped the price was lowered enough so that you would still see value. Hope you will give us another chance.
Reems Creek Golf Course
Played On 08/07/2015Slippery when wet!
I have played Reems many times and conditions have really, really deteriorated. Greens are still passable, but the fairways are a mess--too many holes with soggy, casual water conditions to list here. If you play here after any kind of rain falls, bring boots. IT's too bad because it's a nice setting and the course layout is not bad--just too much standing water due to poort drainage and the sand traps are really horrible.
Thanks for leaving your comments and for playing Reems Creek. I spoke to the Superintendent about the wet conditions at the course and he told me that this was a temporary condition that has been corrected.
Come give us a try another time, most of the feedback has been great at Reems this year.

Reems Creek Golf Course
Played On 05/11/2015Good, but Could be Great
Overall, I had a very pleasant round, and the layout is potentially outstanding, but the course conditions were disappointing. The traps need immediate attention, the fairways were inconsistent in quality and the greens are slow. However, the mountain views are fabulous and the track is actually a very nice one--just invest some time and $ in maintaining it properly and you'd have a gem!

Overall an enjoyable day, largely because we got to play as a twosome with nobody in front of us--3 hour rounds are always welcome! Front side is more conventional mountain golf with some very difficult greens. Stay below the hole! Back side is short irons off the tee on EVERY hole for a good player (yes even from the "tips") and very gimmicky, but still a nice test for lesser players. My wife enjoyed it so I had fun, too. Greens were consistent and better than I expected.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting our course, and we hope to see you again in the future.
