Summer Grove

Enjoyed Summer Grove today. The course is in pretty good shape, with the greens having good speed, despite being a tad "tall". Good Pro Shop, nice bar area, and plenty of parking. The young man at the desk was friendly and polite. Pace started good, until we jammed up behind two walkers. After several holes, we made the turn, and they still hadn't offered to let the faster singles and two-somes with carts play through. The two-some decided to skip a hole and were verbally accosted by the walkers. One of them was shrieking and slamming her driver onthe tee box, thought the head was going to pop off.. and the club, too.. As the two-some drove away, the walker's rage turned towards myself and the other single, who had sat quietly while it all took place. They stormed by us, screaming and cussing as they headed back to the Pro shop (to probably scream some more). Pace picked right back up after that, magically.. So i joined up with the other single and played the rest of the round with him. I really enjoyed the layout of the course. Several holes with good elevation changes, plenty of water hazards (creeks and lakes), and several dogleg par 4's that require placement instead of using the driver. I will definitely be back, and will tell others to go try it out, as well.

So much potential..

First off, i played at Coweta Club on a GolfNow Hot deal, so i ended up only paying about $4 out of pocket (after using a $10 credit i had been given) For what i paid, its hard to complain.. but im about to do just that.
Cons:
No Marshall/Starter
Lack of signage
Holes have alot of driving between them, so walking would be brutal
Poor grounds Maintenance (fairways abnormally "skinny", with the 1st cut rough about 2.5-3in tall, so basically lazy grass cutting has narrowed the holes, considerably, and unnecessarily)
Poor condition of tee boxes and greens (many bald spots, and extremely tall grass, so pretty awful to putt on)
Some woman was blocking the 18th fairway/green area, either practicing or wandering around aimlessly.. i waited 15 minutes, then someone from the course rode by, and when i questioned what was she doing, the guy said "i dunno", without stopping, and laughed as he drove away. I finally just picked up my ball and left

Pros:
The course, if cared for, would be a lot of fun to play.. too bad its not.
Clubhouse was very nice, though the golf shop was a little small
Hole designs are fun, a couple drivable par 4's, and some pretty long par 3's, along with significant elevation changes on many holes
Very nice surrounding neighborhood, and the nice houses are protected somewhat by the trees
The tall grass on the greens are a sign of healing, however, they couldve easily been rolled to make them faster. It won't help the many dead spots, but it would be a start
Pace was great, until the 18th

Don't waste alot of money playing here, i won't return until the conditions improve

Mirror Lake (Mountain course)

Wonderful course, in excellent condition. The greens are the best part of the course, very great shape, and rolls fast and true. Will be playing both Mirror Lake courses again very soon.

Mirror Lake (Lake Course)

I recently joined Clubcorp and my home courses are Mirror Lakes and Chapel Hills. This review is for the "Lake" course at Mirror Lakes. Mirror Lakes has two 18 hole courses, The Lake and The Mountain. These are private courses, so a membership is required to play, unless you go with another member to play as a guest.
First of all, the course is located in a nice residential area, and several holes are along Mirror lake. The tee boxes are in good shape, with 5 sets so great for any skill level. The fairways were cut properly, with very little dead/wet/damaged spots, which was nice. The bunkers were kept up well, and the sand fluffy and white. It had rained the day before, and there were no signs of poor drainage, pooling, etc., in the bunkers or the fairways. The greens were pretty much immaculate, with zero damage spots, and they rolled fast and true. Very impressed with this course's condition, and hats off to the grounds crew and management for keeping it in excellent shape. The clubhouse is also nice, stocked with items for sale and very friendly and helpful service. The only downside at this course is the cart path, and its because tree roots have cause raised bumps in the path. It was a minor inconvenience, as all thats needed is to drive a little slower so you dont start bouncing. The grill was nice, as well, quick and good quality. I would strongly recommend this course to anyone who has an opportunity to play it, or is considering membership.

Absolutely Fantastic

First off, this course is a difficult course, even more so from the tips. This course was amazing, and it absolutely ate me alive (though i did get a couple pars, and birdied a par 4) I would recommend this course to anyone within driving distance, who loves golf and seeing excellent courses. Read the scorecard first, there are a few holes where off the fairway is protected vegetation, so dont go looking for your balls if you hit them into there. Narrow fairways, with tons of natural hazards. Also were treated to a flyover (practice) by the Blue Angels, which was really cool.. everyone around stopped and got their phones out and recorded the jets for a couple minutes. We were in sort of a hurry, so we were unable to try any of the food, but the employees were absolutely first rate. From the moment we arrived, we were engaged by a caring attendant who unloaded our clubs for us, and secured them into the cart. Once we were finished, they met us at our truck, unloaded our clubs, and promptly cleaned them while asking about our round. They certainly know how to make you feel special. Lastly, when we played was 2 days after a tropical storm, and you couldn't tell it from the course conditions. Excellent irrigation, and a very well maintained course. Greens were also very well kept. Next time on vacation i will definitely play there again.
