Needs work

Heritage Harbor took a turn to crapsville. While the course was never part of the elite in the area, the well kept conditions kept myself and others coming back. Unfortunately, the summer time Florida weather has put a beating on the greens and fairways. Unrepaired ball marks, crab grass in the fairways, sandy and dirt tee boxes...the course right now does not justify the $40 green fees. You can find better for cheaper.

Greens

Greens were aerated a month ago. Still need another 2-3 weeks. Otherwise, in good shape. Some tee boxes need work. Pace of play was disappointing. They really need to get a starter/ranger.

The hype vs the reality

World woods has a reputation. Whether it's through word of mouth or the rating as one of best in the country, it gets hyped up. Going into your round, your expecting a world class course and that's where they get you. The course is great condition and the greens(less two or three with some minor work) are near perfect but it fails in leaving you "wowed". 12 and 15 were really the only two holes that were aesthetically unique. 4 makes you think. The course is actually pretty wide with a great hole layout. You're made to feel that it's narrow due to the waste areas but its really not the case.

The course is really great but I was expecting more and left still hungry. If I paid full price @ $100+ then I would be really disappointed. @ $45, it's a good deal.

Brooksville cc is close by and leaves a more lasting impression.

Tip: you got 20 mins before your time and you have your rush your warm up. Hit some balls right?...stop right there and go to the putting greens. The greens are fast and take time to figure out. Trust me.

Pros and cons

Good course. Nice layout with a great atmosphere. Lots of holes are tree lined. Most courses in fl are lined with houses. There are a few holes on this course setup this way but overall, great views. More than a handful of greens need work. There is a hole on the back 9 that is a complete disaster. Wasn't expecting every hole to be pristine but a little disappointed. Lots of ball marks.

Great value

Great course. Good layout and has a handful of holes with blind shots. A lot of water but not that much in play. For 18$, it's easily the best course I've played for the money. The two drawbacks are that some(I'm talking 4-5) tee boxes aren't in the best shape and some greens have sandy/repair spots. The greens rolled true and had good speed. I disagree with some of the other reviews. I know most greens in fl are fast but these seemed just right. Speed of play was somewhat slow and did not see any rangers.

Golf etiquette tip: please please repair your balls marks. I don't blame the course for this and it really is just common courtesy. Saw at least 3-6 on each hole that needed fixing.

Eh

How to explain the dunes. Has the potential to be one of the best courses in Florida and from past reviews, it sounded like it was used to be there. The bad: The fairways were in overall eh condition. Some good, most were less then average. Greens were really spotty. Extremely fast but a lot of sand/brown/dead spots. Crab grass on the greens and on the edges. Tee boxes were in average condition. The good: great layout and a truly a unique course. All four par-3's had great views and were extremely challenging. You will get to a tee box and say wow to yourself when you see the view. If they put in the $$$ to clean up the fairways and greens then you have one of the best courses in central Florida. The condition they have it in now, it's a shame.

Nice Course

Links at Hudson. Quite possibly the best course I've played for the value. $18 on a Sunday is good business. The course is crowed but your money looks (for once) like the management is using it correctly. Greens - All in good shape, Fairways - a bit patchy here in there but overall, above average, tee boxes - nothing great but not bad, Rough - actual rough. Played a few courses in Florida and rough is just sand and dirt. Not here. Still, it was patchy in spots but not bad.
You are paying $18 bucks so your not going to get fairways and rough like innsbrook. The course is narrow in spots and you need good accuracy to score low. Great elevation changes that are rarely seen in FL. Loved the layout. Yardage seems low but played from the blacks and it was a fair challenge. Putting greens are on the smaller size.
Play it. You won't regret it.

Pretty good

Went out on a Sunday afternoon. Pretty good course but a bit over crowded. Greens - above average. Some holes were a bit patchy, I saw a few weeds here and there but nothing to fret about. Edge of greens were excellent. Everything rolled true. Bunkers - overall is great shape. Fairways - also in excellent condition. Tee boxes - some were good, I would say the majority need work. Took some time to find a level area that wasn't in sand.
The pace of play is really a joke here. The ranger driving around didn't seem to care. The foursome in front struggled and took their time so whatever. No driving range. Just mats.
For $29 bucks, it's hard to find a better deal.

Stay away

Pretty terrible. Tee boxes - quite possibly the worst I've ever seen on a golf course. Fairways - you will literally be hitting out of the sand in the middle of a fairway. Rough - sand and more sand. I almost felt like popping open a beach chair. Greens - Inside greens were eh ok, outskirts and edge of green needs work. Not the worst I've seen but sub-par. The only good things I could think of: good layout(elevation changes) and did not see anyone else on the course. Bring food for yourself, they basically have nothing. Could be a good course but needs some $$$$ invested. Mmmmm rather not.
