Bull Run Golf Club
Played On 07/24/2022Beautiful Course!
Really enjoyed my round at Bull Run. Layout and conditions were excellent. Starter/marshall was extremely friendly, and gave helpful tips on a couple holes. My only nitpick is the layout of #18, which is kinda quirky. My best drive of the day left me with a short shot in to the green, but with a downhill/sidehill lie that was very tricky, especially with a not-so-wide green wedged between a tree and water. Anyway, I'll definitely be back. It wasn't cheap, but it was worth it!

Greens rolled well, but fairways were very patchy. Also, the rough around the greens seemed like it hadn't been mowed in a month - very tough to find balls.

Very nice layout, and good pace of play. Many of the greens are sloped, so hitting the right part of the green pays dividends. The hole descriptions on the scorecard were a nice and helpful bonus!

Nice, tree-lined layout that seems to be accessible for players of all levels. Course was in tough shape, however, with crab grass on the greens and many bare/muddy spots in the fairways. Also, be advised that the course is only allowing two carts per foursome, so you'll potentially be asked to share a cart with a stranger in the time of Covid, or you'll have to walk. Overall, not worth the rack rate of $110, but at $65 via GolfNow, it was worth a look.

I played this track for the first time in a few years, and was a bit disappointed. Even though I don't believe it had rained the night before, the course was SOAKED. It must have been over watered. This led to a lot of mucky conditions and standing water on the course. At least (surprisingly) we were allowed 90 degree rule, or it would have been an extremely long round.
The course was also somewhat browned out, which, while not unusual for courses in this area at this time of year, is not the case at nearby Herndon Centennial, which is better maintained.
I still love the layout at SRGC, and would return under (hopefully) dryer conditions.
