The greens left much to be desired...given that they have been punched 5 days prior ( we had no way of knowing) and they were far from healed,
The rest of the course was in quite good shape.
Staff was friendly and helpful as always.
Played here many times and a very enjoyable layout.
The food was superb and the special was a true bargain!

Started playing this course in the 90's and usually found it in pretty good shape. Admittedly the weather patterns in the area have changed over time wet weather has hung on at times, so greens that are "painted" with fertilizer to give some look of grass is not unusual. The tees, fairways, and rough were very acceptable for this time of year. I was disappointed that there was not full disclosure about the conditions of the greens. It's hard to hold good shots into a dirt green or put through patches of dirt, tufts of weed and some remnant of grass.

I looked forward to my first visit to Bear Creek and was really flustered. The people in the pro shop had largely blank expressions when I asked where to find the course layout, or if could I purchase a yardage book. There was nothing that helped identify hidden water hazards, bunkers, or the actual fairway or green shape.
Just as we were moving to the starter one of the fellows came out of the shop to tell me about a phone app that included the course layout; timeliness and poor signal strength prevented a start for the download.
I will share this exoerience my friends back home at the club.
A very interesting and pleasing layout was difficult to enjoy because we had to play it totally blind.
Also, if you plan to eat there be sure to check before you tee off as to what foods/ offerings they are out of!

We have enjoyed playing Island West since it opened. After a four year hiatus we played last week and still found it enjoyable. There is wear and tear that comes with age and economic downturn...that being said, if you score poorly or do not enjoy the round, look in the mirror. Conditions were better than good, greens were great. After-lunch pace of play slows a bit but we still played in 4 hours.

I cut my teeth on this public course and its condition now makes it a different course than when I began playing. It is very hilly and favors the left to right player. The greens are smallish, nice, but with a lot of grass they vary in pace... but they do roll well. Fairways are good, fair in their width and consistent. The rough is deep and makes the course a challenge now. Once, a purely local-knowledge track, now it is exactly what you see and you either play well or you score high.

Augustine Golf Club in Stafford Virginia is back! The standard of care over the last several years has been erased and this challenging layout is once again in beautiful condition and a pleasure to play. The fairways and greens have returned to the top notch condition that allowed the average player to enjoy the track, while giving the accomplished player every opportunity to score. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and the clubhouse facilities are wonderful. You won't be sorry you booked a tee time at Augustine Golf Club.

Too bad Jasper County S.C. doesn't appreciate what this jewel of a golf course did for revenue!
Once a marvelous 27 hole, Gary Player challenge, Jasper County's "road to nowhere"through the property, has shortened it to an 18 hole course that remains a joy to play when golfers play at a reasonable pace. The fairways and greens are perfect. There are rarely golf cart restrictions and the 18 holes that remain are beautiful! If you come to Hilton Head, you have to play Hilton Head National.

This new Fazio course is a real treat if you value good lies, true-putting greens with pace, and a challenging layout in a beautiful low country setting. The staff is very friendly and professional.
