Coachwood Golf & Country Club
Played On 08/16/2021Still an Interesting Course
First time playing in 15 years and they have made some improvements to the clubhouse/proshop and the course condition is 100% better with lush fairways and greens and nice landscaping compared to the rock hard fairways and burnt greens I remember.
Llano Grande Golf Course
Played On 01/15/2020Interesting Layout
Very interesting layout for a flat course with few trees but with strategic water hazards and rough. It would be so much better if they would just cut the shaggy greens to normal height. The greens are watered but a lot of the mixed grass is just not cut though the greens are smooth and not sloped a lot. No different than last year! If you put a good roll on the putt it will behave as anticipated. All in all an ok course. The clubhouse staff are great and the food is good.
Llano Grande Golf Course
Played On 02/07/2019Interesting, challenging, conditions not the best!
Boy, if the green were rolled and cut it would have been much better. For a watered course in 80 degree weather you would think the fairways would be better. I assume the grass must want to be dormant despite the warm Texas winter. There are lots of water penalty areas and fairways are often narrow, and greens small. Definitely a full length golf course. Now that I've plaid it once, look out - I'll know where I'm hitting too next time as fairway airlines and contour are difficult to discern from the tee. Definitely a challenge from the Blues!
The Quarry Golf Course
Played On 02/27/2018Awesome Setting
The course was very interesting with two different styles of course - links and rock quarry. The course condition was very good though greens were a bit slower than expected perhaps because of recent rains. The staff we superb trying to do their best to work with our Golf Now tee time around two tournaments.
La Loma at Fort Sam Houston Golf Course
Played On 02/19/2018Enjoyable course
Despite winter dormant conditions greens were very playable. Layout was interesting. Great value course that did not disappoint.
Hill Country Golf Club - Lakes/Creeks
Played On 02/13/2018Enjoyable!
Nice course, green fairways and greens despite "winter". Very interesting. First class club. Would play again.
Monte Cristo Golf & Country Club
Played On 01/15/2018Fun Round.
Interesting layout for flat terrain with few trees and relatively wide open fairways but some of the holes have utilized trees strategically and some have water hazards that do sneak up on you. Green though with their winter brown were very fast and smooth and were fair to putt. Rough and fairways were very short and all traps on course are grass traps. The back nine is 4 par 3's, 2 par 4's and 3 par 5's which is different but interesting. I am going to play the course again for sure.
Treasure Hills Golf Club
Played On 01/10/2018Enjoyable layout, great value!
Had a good time, layout mostly open, but strategic. Best value course. Shortage of golf carts so bit of a starting delay. Not many big trees but has some significant water hazards on some holes. Traps have been topped up with fresh sand but hadn't been groomed yet. Fairways and greens watered but not lush as it is a winter season so everything else is brown but course quite playable and greens relatively smooth and quick. Will definitely play again.
TPC Scottsdale - The Stadium Course
Played On 11/29/2017Great experience, nice course, but...
Enjoyed playing this course immensely. The layout and views were great. The greens are very large and flat and quite easy to read. What you saw you got! The fairways and the rough were lush due to overseeding and lots of watering. However, there was not much sand in the bunkers (just a thin coating over hard stuff) and greens were very firm and not holding that well much as you would see on a high traffic public course. They were in preparation for January's Waste Management PGA tournament so traps and greens were not ready and there was lots of construction with the construction of the bleachers going on. Our assigned caddy was superb!
Starfire Golf Club - The King Course
Played On 11/27/2017Nice course, good value!
A very nice public course with many interesting holes but nothing tricked up. Very enjoyable! Would definitely play again. Greens, fairways, bunkers, all in nice condition. Greens were average speed and were fair to read.
Oakcreek Country Club
Played On 11/21/2017Beautiful course from playing and vistas standpoint.
Perhaps the nicest course I've ever played given the vistas and condition and layout of the course. The greens were like lightening and with the moderate slopes it made putting challenging. However, the greens were soft and receptive to approach shots which spun back my approach shots but they were not torn up at all - a nice balance of soft and firm! The layout did not disappoint and was very enjoyable especially with the view of the red rock mountains around you. Fairways were great and the range was free for warmup. Make sure to putt on the practice green before venturing out.
Oakcreek Country Club
Played On 11/21/2017One of the best I have ever played!
Really loved this course and not just for the incredibly beautiful vistas. The greens were lightening fast and with subtle breaks so were a bit hard to read but you had to catch on to them! The biggest plus for the greens were that they were soft and receptive so my approach shots would hold and often spin back yet they were not marked up - definitely pro caliber. The holes were very interesting and presented a fair challenge. I'm an 11.3 handicap and played it from the blues so it was a nice fair test of my game. I'd have shot better than my 89 if I hadn't used 46 putts. Next time I'll be more prepared for the speed.
