Golf in its ancient form

Some will complain about the rock hard burned out fairways, or greens that would make your grandmother’s shag carpet proud. The smell of the landfill a quarter mile away sometimes wafts through the air and a group of newbie golfers are hitting their 12th shot on the par 3 in front of you. But this is golf in it’s purest, most ancient form. Old Tom Morris played this kind of course as a child (minus the sweltering 200% Tennessee humidity).

Perfect for the golfing family. The embarrassed hacker. The golfer that thinks they’ve conquered every course out there.

Unpretentious, dirt cheap, golf as it originally was intended.

It's going downhill...

I've lived in the area and played Pine Creek for years. Traditionally one of the nicer courses in the area. But unfortunately every time I've played the experience has gotten progressively more terrible. Booked my tee time on GolfNow, and turns out they had us right in the middle of a tournament. That's fine, we didn't mind some congestion. But the pace of play was unbearable! We could only get in 12 holes because it got dark on us! And our tee time was at 2p!!!

Complained to the management at the course, and they were rude and unhelpful.

To top it off, the condition of the course has gone COMPLETELY downhill. It was better in the winter! The fairways have enormous patches of dirt. The grass is brown and dying.

What in the world happened, Pine Creek???

Won't be returning for a while. You just lost one of your more loyal customers. See you at Windtree I guess.

Always Beautiful

First time out to Windtree this year. Spring still hasn't popped yet, but the course was in good condition nonetheless. Quiet. Nobody pushing us or in front of us. Can't wait to play this course more during the year.

Playable course for the price

I've played this course many times and am happy to see them on GolfNow finally. We had a noon tee time and got paired with a couple other GN guys. The course was packed...one of the first warm days of 2014 so everyone was out.

It's been a harsh winter, so the grass everywhere is of course struggling. It had rained a few days before so everything was really wet. The greens were spongy but mostly smooth.

Great course for the money. But those wanting a traditional full experience need to lower their expectations. There are no sand traps. The cart paths are gravel. And the course is set in a rectangle piece of a property.

But the atmosphere is laid back and the greens are decent.

-good times guy

Laid back nice course

Booked this on golfnow then arrived to the course to find out that they were redoing greens on the front 9 so we had to play the back nine twice. Turned out to be fun. We were visiting from out of town and looking for a nice local experience. Fairways were lush and in great shape. Greens had just been aerated and filled with sand ... So they were a little bumpier than I prefer.

But for the price, it was great! Beautiful on a nice fall afternoon.

Decent with discounted golf, but unimpressive after remodel

This course closed down in summer of 2012 to remodel. We played right before it closed and though the greens were in rough shape, it was a pleasant experience. We were excited to return this year and saw they had reopened boasting of new greens, tee boxes, better fairways, etc on their website.

The club house had been moved to a temporary location since apparently it still is being remodeled. Poor signage finding it. Then the staff just wasn't that friendly. One guy was super rude.

The course itself seems to suffer from lack of irrigation. The fairways were smooth and fast. The greens were disappointing. It appears they think that using green-colored sand in smashed down in large quantities is a good alternative to grass. Fast greens but mainly because the surface is hardened.

And to top it off, we had to wait to play due to a couple slow groupings. Wish the starter helped facilitate play better.

Don't go in expecting a pristine golfing experience.

For being spring and a fresh remodel, I had higher expectations.

Next year we will try a different course.
