Black at Bethpage State Park Golf Course
Played On 06/25/2016Worth the money
We play Bethpage Black once a year. In the past this course was always in great shape however this year it was phenomenal. Because the Barclay's is here in August , many bunkers were redone and several of the greens were re-configured. All the walking path's have been grassed over which is a vast improvement to the old dirt paths. The fescue was waist high, the rough was up to the ankle and the greens were pure as silk. This is a great course that is well worth the out of state rate of $150.
Witch Golf Club
Played On 04/28/2015Poor conditions
I have played this course many times over the past 20 years, however this time the "t boxes" and greens were in terrible shape. Some of the greens on the front 9 were just mud with patches of grass in it. This course has a great layout but paying $68 bucks for an afternoon round with poor conditions made this an expensive round. The course threw in a "sandwich and a beer" but we came to play golf, not eat.
Cape Fear Country Club
Played On 04/26/2015Golf the way it is meant to be!!!
This is a great course, from the practice facility to the clubhouse to the staff. Great conditions, fast greens (11 on the stimp), sand everywhere and very pleasing to the eye. This course is what you would expect in the Myrtle Beach area; the only drawback is that it is an hour north. Put this course on your list to play!
Carolina National Golf Club - Egret Nine

Course conditions were terrible, I played the heron and Ibis 9's. There was no rough, the fairways were poor and the greens were terrible. The 1st hole on the Ibis 9 had a temporary green!!!
The Preserve Golf Club
Played On 04/08/2015Nice course but poor conditions
For a $57 greens fee this course is OK, nice layout but the conditions were not good. I was disappointed considering this is a "golf community" There was no starter nor bag drop personal on the day I played; the snack bar was closed. At the end of my round there was one guy hosing off the golf carts.

Played On 04/07/2015Nice course, but not cheap!!
This is a nice course, 27 hole complex. Well manicured, nice greens. 4 hour round and very helpful staff as well. However the $100 greens fee was excessive.
Legacy Golf Club
Played On 04/06/2015Poor conditions
For a $100 greens fee it was not worth the money. Poor fairway and green conditions, a lot of bare spots. It's a nice layout and pace of play was good. I learned after the round that new management was set to take over the course on Wednesday April 8th. In the meantime, skip this one!!!!
Pay no attention to this review - completely different golf course now - tough winter and spring caused problems, completely resolved now and great playing conditions
