Crescent Farms Golf Course
Played On 09/19/2020Great Round at Crescent Farms
This was my first round at Crescent Farms. The high ratings and a Hot Deal rate encouraged me to try it out. The course was fun and forgiving. The weather was perfect, and the course was in good shape, save for some stray ball marks on the greens. For the value, I don’t think you could get much better than Crescent Farms!
Battleground at Deer Park, The
Played On 06/20/2020Rained out after 9
The course was kind of baked out from the Texas summer-heat when I played in late-June. The tee boxes were hard, the fairways were thin, and the greens were both dead in places & not recently mowed. When we started our round, the starter basically told us it was going to be a 5 hour round. I think the course conditions were due more to the lack of rain than lack of maintenance. Our round was washed out after 9 holes, and I intend to return because I enjoy the course. Battleground is challenging, with water in play on a majority of holes. The staff is friendly, and the practice facilities include a driving range, chipping area, and putting green. It's a decent value for the money.
Avery Ranch Golf Club
Played On 04/19/2019Perfect Friday morning at Avery Ranch
This was my first time playing Avery Ranch, and I wish I would have found it sooner. It's a 20/25 minute drive from downtown Austin, but it's worth the trip. The driving range has a large number of spots, and it is right next to the first tee. The course is somewhat hilly, but there isn't much elevation change on individual holes. The course was in fantastic shape on a perfect 75 & sunny morning in April. A handful of bunkers on the back 9 are in rough shape, but it's not enough to dampen your round.
The starter advised us to make sure you stay to the left with your drive on #7 - Avery Ranch's signature hole, and take an extra club on the Par 3 17th. The 3-hole stretch from #5 to #7 is a doozy - resulting in the front 9 being more difficult than the back.
Pearland Golf Club
Played On 12/23/2018Good Value
The course was in good shape given the time of year (December in Houston). Tee Boxes, Fairways and Greens were playable. There were a few mushy/muddy patches around the course, but they were easy to navigate around. We never waited on a hole, and we had a fun time as a threesome.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review, and the 4-stars! We are always looking to improve so any feedback is helpful. We are happy to see that your overall experience was positive. We look forward to having you back.
Wildcat Golf Club - The Lakes
Played On 01/15/2018MLK Day at Wildcat Lakes
The weather started out cold but warmed up to a perfect 50/60 degree sunny day. The course is in great winter condition, although a few of the tee boxes - most notably #17 - could use some touching up. The greens were a tad fast, but fair. Fairways were in good shape. There is water on every hole from #7 to #13 that will challenge you, with the #8 'Road Hole' providing the most daunting challenge. The driving range is a little bit of a drive from #1, so plan accordingly. I have played the Wildcat Highlands course before, but this was my first time playing the Lakes course. I really enjoyed Lakes, and I am looking forward to playing it again.
Pearland Golf Club
Played On 01/13/2018Cold Day at Pearland Golf Club
We got off before a tournament on a cold Saturday morning. There was still some standing water from rains a few days before, but the course was in good shape for the time of year. The fairways and greens were in good shape given the time of year, but the bunkers could use some work. There was nobody in front or behind us the entire round, so we were able to play at a reasonable pace. The price was great for a Saturday morning tee time.
The Golf Club Star Ranch
Played On 02/21/2016Drizzly Sunday at Star Ranch
The course was in good condition, but the weather was a tad unfavorable. Large driving range as well as putting and chipping areas. Would like to play this course when the weather was nice. Fairly tough for a mediocre golfer like myself, but the course itself isn't overly challenging.
Pine Crest Golf Club
Played On 09/26/2015Saturday Morning Round at Pine Crest
This course is one of the most convenient ones to get to within the Beltway, and it is worth the money.
My foursome arrive at 9:30 for a 10:00 tee-time, and we were told we could start whenever we wanted. We got a large bucket of balls ($9) for the driving range, which was a little tight, but we were all able to find our own station.
Before we even teed off, 2 carts pulled up behind us, so we knew it would be a long day.
The course was green and in good shape. No dead grass or dirt fairways to report. There is a lot of water on the course that can sneak up on you if you don't look at the course layout.
My biggest complaint was with the bunkers. A majority of them were hard with not much sand to speak of. It made bunker shots incredibly difficult and unpredictable.
It took us a little over 4.5 hours to finish 18, which - even on Saturday - is too long. An active Marshall would help this course considerably.
My group and I enjoyed this course and do plan on going back. We paid about $42 a person, which is a bit much, but still a good value for the course's location.
Thank you for the review! We're glad you enjoyed the course and look forward to seeing you back again! We appreciate your criticisms and will look to improve upon them. Thank you!
Southwyck Golf Club
Played On 09/07/2015Southwyck on Labor Day
This course was in great condition when I played it on Labor Day 2015. The course has a driving range, putting green, and chipping area. We registered as a two-some, fully expecting to be paired up on a holiday, but we went off as 2, with two-somes in front and behind us. We joined the group behind us at the 4th tee because the pace of play was very slow. After pairing up, the day flew by.
This course is challenging but fun with a lot of water in play. It isn't necessarily very long, but a lot of the holes will make you think - especially #15: a drive-able Par-4 over water.
Battleground at Deer Park, The
Played On 09/05/2015Battleground is well worth the drive
This course is well worth the drive out to Deerpark.
The course was in great condition, and we were lucky to have a few bands of rain come through to cool things off. There is a large driving range across the street from the clubhouse which is a little difficult to access before your round.
The pace of play on a Saturday morning was fine - the only waiting was at Par 3s, and even that was quick. There is a lot of water in play on several holes.
#5 is a Par-5 your can reach in 2, so start lining up your eagle putts.
I really enjoyed this course as an intermediate golfer, and I look forward to future trips out to Deer Park to play Battleground.
ShadowGlen Golf Club
Played On 08/29/2015Saturday round at Shadowglen
The weather was great for our round. The course was in great shape, as was the driving range. The pace of play wasn't really a problem until the 5th or 6th hole, and it wasn't that bad. Our 2-some joined up with another 2-some on the back 9 to make the round go quicker. I really enjoy this course.
Hi Kdows22,

Roy Kizer Golf Course
Played On 08/17/2014Roy Kizer 8/17
There was barely anyone on the course at 1:00 on a Sunday - I assume the Texas-heat had something to do with that. A friend and I were able to play 18 in 3-hours flat: no one in front of us, no one behind us. Course is in great shape - a good time overall.
Lions Municipal Golf Course
Played On 7/4/2013Good price, slow pace
Playing on a holiday, you can expect for there to be a lot of players on the course. Lion's is well-maintained, and I was pleased with what I got for paying $30. The special also came with a bucket of balls for the range, so be sure to remember that if you book through GolfNow.
Jimmy Clay Golf Course
Played On 6/8/2013Good value, temporary greens have to be fixed.
$30 to ride 18 on a Saturday is a good deal wherever you can get it, and Jimmy Clay is in moderately good conditions. There is a lot of sand on most of the greens, including large patches on some. The worst part of the course are the 3 temporary greens that are currently on the course. They are atrocious.
