Neshanic Valley Golf Course - Meadow/Lake Course
Played On 04/18/2016Aerating April
What the heck is going on with the county courses Aeration Schedule. I know Spooky Brook, Neshanic, and Green Knoll all have been done because I've had the displeasure of playing on all 3. Its been a bumpy ride and I think if this is the Schedule for the coming years I won't be playing golf until May for now on. On top of this please let the players know before booking a time that the greens have been aerated. Me personally I would rather pay more to play a course that hasn't been Aerated.
Crystal Springs Golf Club
Played On 03/29/2016First time long time
I been dying to play one of these resort courses for some time. Finally I got the price I wanted through Golf Now so off we went. Took about 1 hr and 10 minutes to get there but, besides the windy cool weather conditions me and my son had a great day of golf. Course was in very good shape. Greens were a little brown, but this time of year that's to be expected.
Greens were faster than I'm used to but all around I putted very well on them. Definitely worth the trip and the money we paid, can't wait to go back when weather gets better.
Quail Brook Golf Course
Played On 03/24/2016Another round at Quailbrook
Course was in decent shape for this time of year with unpredictable weather.conditions. Started out in mid 50's . By the time we got to the third hole the temperature must have dropped 25 degrees. Never seen weather change that quickly. Just played a silly round where we could take extra shots if we didn't like the 1st one. Besides freezing to death it was a fun 9 holes. Greens were unusually fast for a county course but I think the greens are still rock hard from the colder weather.
Colts Neck Golf Club
Played On 11/09/2015Nice fast greens tough course for high handicapers
Had a very good time playing here. Unfortunately for me I don't play many as difficult as this one. The long Par 3's were especially hard because the courses I play usually have shorter Par 3's. Course was in great shape for this time of year.
Fox Hollow Golf Club
Played On 11/02/2015Nice to play on a Private Course for a change
I play a lot of Public Golf Courses and you can't compare them to a Private facility. I wish I could play Private Courses like this one all the time. Better Fairways, Greens, and Sand Bunkers.
Mountain View Golf Course
Played On 10/17/2015Where should I go
If you like mountainous golf courses with uneven lies, blind shots, tilted fairways, narrow fairways, and undulating greens than this is your cup of tea. Me I hated it only because I'm used to flat links style courses with length being the true challenge and not how your ball is lying in the fairway. To be fair the views from some of the tee boxes and greens were spectacular, almost like you weren't in Jersey anymore but somewhere in the Adirondacks Mountains.
High Bridge Hills Golf Club
Played On 08/23/2015Still a good course when you have Golf Now pricing
This course always has been a challenge for my game. Started at 5 pm so only played 14 holes. Course was in great shape and the greens were the fastest ones I've played this year. I always enjoy playing here but I won't pay there regular greens fee of 60 to 70 dollars. To me that's too much to pay for any public venue.
Clearbrook Golf Course
Played On 08/05/2015Overrated at best
From the star rating I viewed I expected better course conditions than I got. Greens were terrific, on the slow side but very full. The grass around some of the greens and fringes was the real issue I had with this course. Rocks, dirt, and stone on the outer part surrounding the greens with absolutely no grass to be seen. How do you hit a golf ball off of that surface and expect to get the ball close to the hole. If your going to have a bad area it should be further away from the greens. One other note some of the bunkers were chock full of rocks to the point it would be dangerous to hit out of it. There ad said improvements had been made to this course so I can only imagine how it used to be.
Spooky Brook Golf Course
Played On 07/27/2015Pleasantly surprised
I was very impressed with the changes that were made to this course since I last played it many years ago. They grew out some of the areas with tall wispy rough which used to be just regular sized rough about 2" high. This change added more challenges than in the past which made a relativity easy course a little more challenging. Greens were in excellent shape.
GOOD JOB Somerset County.
Cream Ridge Golf Club
Played On 07/16/2015Old Style golf course
The fact that we paid only 33 dollars to play this course on such a beautiful day made it a little more tolerable. I found most of the holes except for the par 3's unimaginable and dull. As a whole it reminded me of an old private club that became rundown and members were no longer joining so it went public. The cart paths were like a ride through the jungle in one of those tour buses on roads of dirt and loose gravel. The fairways and rough looked like 3 different types of grass were used or they were unidentifiable weeds
The Architects Golf Club
Played On 07/13/2015Architect's Review
This course is by far one of the very best in NJ. I enjoyed both nines equally. It was quite warm and humid and if it was any other inferior course I would not have finished 18 holes. Green were not too tough although they were a little wet which fooled me on lag putts all day. Fairways were in perfect shape and the rough was not incredibly high, which was a surprise because most other golf courses I have played this year the rough was way to high for my liking. All in all it was a good round of golf on a very good golf course.
High Point Golf Club
Played On 06/20/2015High Point Heaven
I personally love this golf course. I only get to play here 1 to 2 times a year because it's an hour and a half away from me. It's hard to get people who want to drive that far to play golf. I would do it more often but I don't want to play as a single. This is a very visual course with water coming into play quite often. It is a course that offers everything you want in a golf course, challenge, narrow and wide fairways, some longer par 4's, and some difficult undulating greens. One thing I will warn you depending on your skill level BRING LOTS OF BALLS.. When I play here I have so much fun that after awhile I don't even bother with writing down a score just enjoy playing the holes. This course is by far my favorite course in NJ. The travel is the only part I don't care for. Beware of the 1st hole, if you don't play it correctly and don't carry the water to the green your day can easily start out with a 10.
Green Knoll Golf Course
Played On 05/06/2015Same ol green knoll
Played this course alot when I was learning the game. I still enjoy a round there once in awhile but beware playing there on the weekends. You'll be looking at a 6 hour round on a busy day.
Concordia Golf Club
Played On 04/26/2015about average
This course was in average condition for this time of year. Most courses are recovering from the colder weather still so it was to be expected. Most of the holes were much shorter than the average courses around. Not quite an executive course but definitely shorter than most even from the tips. Green were in good condition but fairways were a little brown. Normally this is a private course but for some reason they were excepting public tee times. There was no food or drink being sold at the time we were there and I'm not sure why so bring your own.
Heron Glen Golf Course
Played On 04/12/2015Heron Glen Review
Very good course for the money I paid through golf now. There regular prices are a little steep especially on week ends. Everything was from good to excellent except for one ranger who continually rushed us even though we had to wait on several holes t to tee off. I understand they want to move play along but to hurry up and wait is ridiculous.
Mercer Oaks Golf Course - East Course
Played On 11/12/2014beautiful scenic course
Excellent very scenic golf course which I like personally. Not too difficult but very enjoyable. Only played nine holes cause of a back issue. Drove the cart around the back nine to have a look and I really liked what I saw

Course was in excellent shape even after all the rain we've had. Rough was a little higher than I like but that's cause I'm always in it. Greens were in very good shape a even had a nice speed to them. This course can be pricy at the earlier part of the day so save a buck and play in the afternoon when rates go down. Definitely would recommend this course and for first timers greens are small and on the faster side .
I think you meant Skyview in Sussex County
