Some of the best rolling greens I've played on. Water everywhere, but not a drop to drink (or clean your ball with). Course was a bit soggy but still enjoyable. The traffic getting in and out sucks.

Conditions are a bit rough. No. 1 fairway in particular was awful. Driving a cart in some fairways is like riding a bronco. Some water hazards were lined with litter. No drinking water or ball washers anywhere. Some greens were not good.

Nearly 100 degrees and there's no drinking water on the course. You won't get COVID, but you might get heatstroke. Asinine.

That idiocy aside, it's a fine course.

Well it's already had two name changes since I last stopped by.. Good to see this place open again. I've always loved the design, but conditions have steadily declined over the last 20-plus years. It needs a lot of fixing, but it was not as bad as I feared. There's no drinking water and all of the ball washers were dry. That would be a good place to start, It's primitive golf, but still enjoyable at a Hot Deal price. As usual, pace of play is not an issue. Hope this place can make it, but history is not on its side.

I grabbed a rake in the second fairway bunker that left fiberglass slivers in my hand. Time for some replacements!

Played here a few weeks ago, so wasn't planning to do another review, but I wanted to give a shout-out to the pro shop attendant. Seems my GolfNow reservation didn't show up, And, as luck would have it, my tablet with the confirmations was stone dead. But the guy straightened everything out for me and I was on my way. Really appreciate it.
Course is in great shape for how dry it's been. Was absolutely stunned to see the water gone at 16th hole.

Heat wave is really stressing parts of some fairways. Greenside bunker on 10 could use more sand. Could feel the liner right under my feet. Enjoyed the round and finished in less than 3 hours as nobody else was dumb enough to book an afternoon tee time in this heat.

Every time I come here, I wonder why it took me so long to return. I guess it's the 80-minute drive. But well worth it.

Wish it wasn't so hard for a single to get on via Golfnow. Course is in fine shape. I do wonder why they don't provide sand to fill divots.

The decorated holiday tree near the 15th green made me smile during a poorly-played stretch of holes. It's these subtle touches that help make this such a great place to play.

So excited to hear the third nine is almost open to the public. That said, there are some issues with the other 18; The bunkers are getting ragged. The pair at the 4th green had no rakes! Other rakes I saw and used had missing tines and splintered handles. This necessitates a 1-star downgrade for me. I'll be back, but any further degradation might drive me away.

This is really what the two nearby Lago Vista courses (one of which is now closed) could and should be.

Fairways and tee boxes were extremely shaggy, but I'll give a pass coming just after a big rain event. 15th hole is strange. Doesn't match card and appears to be < 400-yard par-5. Greens remain among the best I've seen this season.

I always enjoy making the trek west to play here. One of the rare places I've seen bluebirds, lizards and black squirrels. Small greens really test your short game. Front is relatively open but long. Back is shorter, but thick with pecan trees. Only complaints are dry ball washers and no water on the course. I'll have to bring a cooler when it gets hot. Super friendly staff.

The course is a little scraggly, but underneath some of the scruff is a pretty fun and interesting track. You'll likely be disappointed paying full price, but it's worth a play if you can snag a discount. Nice to see water back in the lake. Great views. Lots of deer.

Course is always in fine shape when I play here. One of the few things the city hasn't screwed up.

Great all-around course. My only complaint is getting a yardage. The markers are painted on the turf and difficult to spot. Fortunately, I was playing with someone who had a mobile device. Couldn't finish three holes because of lightning. Look forward to coming back.

Everybody raves about this place for good reason. The deer seem to love it as well. Never seen that many out there before. I don't usually eat here, but I'm told the food is still great. They do a great job with re-grips and club repair. There appeared to be a problem with one fairway, but otherwise conditions were outstanding. I will be back, and soon.

I've always considered Lago Vista an underappreciated gem in the Hill Country, even as the quality dissipated under city ownership. I can now say this is one of the finest municipal tracks I've played. The greens and fairways were gorgeous. And I had forgotten how spectacular some of the views are when there's actual water in the lake.
