Well remodeled

Your title calls this West Ridge. It is no longer but is now The Ridge. We used to call it Windy Ridge, a nomenclature that still fit but only for a couple of holes. The rebuilt course is so, so much better than the old. The course is "fresh" and well kept. Clearly, those who planned the work and carried it out knew what they were doing.

Roped Off

The course design seems to have been to allow as many cookie-cutter, shoe box houses to line the course as possible. The course itself is great but is generally lined with hills covered with "
"natural vegetation" that separates the cart paths from the course, leaving you primarily on one side with views of the weed covered mounds and the multitude of houses on the other. I once hit a drive into the middle of the fairway but by the time I had an entry onto the fairway, I was on the wrong fairway and had to go back to the tee to figure it out. Also, the greens are roped off 30-40 yards from the greens so you must go to the cart paths to approach the green. The cart paths generally are 30 plus yards from the greens as well. If your ball is off the green to the side away from the cart path, you have a big problem selecting which clubs to take with you. Reducing wear and tear by keeping carts off of the fairways make sense--I like the 90 degree policy. However, I would summarize my golfing there as a ride between weed covered mounds and houses. They have overdone the roping off by such an extent that the pleasure of golf for me was so minimized that I looked forward to finishing. However, I really liked the course itself. It was challenging but not overwhelming. I just wish that I could have had the experience of being on the course instead of on the cart paths with minimal opportunities to see the course. By the way, I played well for my game. I played the black tees.
