Love this course and I love the people who work and golf here. I travel 80 minutes everytime I want to play here because that is how fun this tract is. Pace of play is usually less than 4 hours and even if it is slow, you're still done in 4.5. It's February so I'm never too harsh with course conditions however bunkers are not seasonal. Fix them. There are grassy borders that make a shelf inside the bunkers and instead of attaching the rakes to the carts, leave them outside the bunkers. I'm usually good with my rake for about 4 times and then the rake gets abandoned somewhere else and the only thing I have to fix my bunker shot is my shoe. I'm not the only one either because you'll see the same thing in all the bunkers at some point. Bunker play is not a round killer for me usually but with the neglected bunkers and inconsistent sand that are in them it makes for a crushing day when luck turns on you and you have to take an unplayable from the Bunker. This really is my only gripe. Well, number 11 is the devils hole but that's a whole different story. Love the course, love the staff, hate the bunkers.

Played On 03/16/2023A tale of 2 Nine's
I had the chance to play this course for the 1st time and I was extremely impressed. The staff was very professional and nice and made me feel right at home. I went to the car and took out my bag and a very nice gentlemen came by, picked up my bag, took it to my cart and then brought me the cart back to my car. Conditions were great for this time of year. Fairways were very green and the rough was in transition from light brown to green. Perfect day for golf. It is definitely 2 different courses between the 9s. The front nine was extremely forgiving, open, and really fun to play. Once I got to the back 9, the courses crazy uncle came out and I'm still licking my wounds after the back 9 fiasco. I'd still play it again because this place not only had great people, not only had great golfing conditions but these golf carts have the softest cushions I've ever sat on for a golf cart! It was like sitting on a cloud the entire round. The young lady at the snack bar at the turn couldn't have been nicer. It was just an overall great experience even getting my butt handed to me on the back. Highly recommend this course and I will definitely be returning....even if I just get to ride the cart around the parking lot.

What a great day of golf! Not only were the course conditions excellent, the staff and especially Troy made the experience that much better. I wish I had a template for this review because it would always say the same thing.....go there! You won't find as nice a course in the area without having to pay around $100. Go and tell em Phil sent ya!

What an absolutely FUN course to play. Open, forgiving, and scenic. This was the first time I had ever played this course and now I am wondering why. The staff was extremely friendly and professional, the regulars waiting for the first tee time were very cordial even to a stranger they could tell had never been there before, and the fairways and greens were in such good shape even for February. If I only had one criticism it would be that the bunkers were packed down instead of sandy but I only ended up in the beach twice so I can let that fact go a little. Although this course may be a little off the beaten path I will certainly make many trips back. Had an absolutely great time out there! Highly recommended!!

Everything was great but the carts were super dirty and looked run-down. I thought they got new carts but I'm sure these weren't them. Spray them off and wipe them down. The gunk on the side of the seats and dirt on the inside of them is horrible. Other than that the course was in great shape although not many people fixing ball marks on the green, and the staff was super friendly especially the young man behind the counter and the starter Mr. Young.

Long course and a challenging course. Good for all skill levels but will test your patience as well. Bring plenty of balls just in case but you'll find plenty of them looking for yours. Highly recommended.

This course is great for ALL skill levels. Nothing too easy and nothing too difficult. Weather was perfect and the course looked great for this time of the year. Staff was extremely friendly and even let me tee off early. I never know what to put for off site amenities but if I had used them I am sure they would be just as good as the on site ones. This course is fun and you won't leave this course feeling like you've been beat down by the golf gods.

Played this course and had allotted plenty of time to play. Good thing because the course was crowded and everyone must have been in no hurry to play a round. Totally ok though as the people I came across were super friendly and did not get mad at me or the staff for not pairing me up with someone. Relaxing day with my best 9 ever on the back. The front...meh but that just makes me want to go back again.
The greens were definitely in ok shape but considering it's already September, you can't expect too much. Still sandy. I love the signs that say "repair your ball mark and one other" but you can tell that most people aren't abiding by that request.
The staff at the end of the day were extremely friendly and were my biggest cheerleaders when I had told them about my best 9. I'm sure they shoot rounds like that all the time but it still was nice of them to acknowledge my accomplishment.
It had been awhile since I had golfed there and I forgot how fun this course is. Whether you're a beginner golfer or a little better than average this course won't overpower you and you'll have a great time chasing that little white ball around its fairways.

Played On 08/18/2020Cut the grass
I get it. You've had lots of rain. You have plenty equipment that can trim THE FIRST CUT down to where you don't lose a ball if you just miss the fairway. I had great shots that I lost because the grass was so long. This is the first time all summer the course looked neglected. The bunkers weren't raked and one poor soul on #7 was weed-eating the lip of the bunker but not loosening up the concrete like surface where the sand should have been. $51 to lose 5 balls in the first cut, walk in ankle deep grass to get to the fairway, and then be relegated to the cart path (which I understand totally) made this the worst round here I have played. The only saving grace was the friendliness of the staff (pro shop guy and the lone weed-eater guy) and the pace of play. 18 holes in 3 hours kept my suffering to a minimum. $51 $51 I wish i could say I was done with this course but everyone deserves a mulligan in golf and I'm sure I will be back to battle again. I really do love this course.
The Golf Club at The Highlands
Played On 07/27/2020Sooo HOT
Well, it was bound to happen. For the first time all year, the greens have started to show a little wear and tear from the high heat we have been experiencing but are relatively in good shape. The rough off the fairways needed cutting as it was longer than usual....and I should know. Haha. The only thing that I might add is that they should place a water cooler full of water bottles at some of the holes on the course. There are no beverages being sold on the course and the only place you can buy the refreshments to cool you off is at the snack bar. With as much business as they are getting during this pandemic, I am sure they can afford to go to Sam's club and get a lot of bottled water and place them in some coolers with ice for the golfers. Think of it as an investment to your customers to stave off dehydration so that they can return to your hospitable establishment. Still love the course and still love playing there. Staff is extremely nice and the people that play there are courteous and play at a pretty good pace. Always recommend this place. Not too hard for a novice but still challenging for good golfers to enjoy, too.

Played On 07/16/2020Bring bug spray!
I've lived in this area most of my whole life and today was the first time I played here. What a fun and beautiful course. Not so long that you need driver on all par 4s but not so difficult that an errant shot is punishable by double pars. Bring bug spray though because some fairways are littered with stinging flies. Unfortunately, due to COVID, the restaurant was not open and the pro shop has a limited selection. This course does allow you to bring food and non alcoholic drinks in your own cooler so that was a huge plus. The staff couldn't be friendlier and the pace was great. Played 36 holes today and will definitely go back.

Great day of golf. Course was a little wetter than usual but still had a blast. Played 18 in about 3 hours. Staff top notch as usual. One of the best courses in the area.

Course was great..leaves are starting to accumulate off the fairway but it's that time of year. Can't say enough about this course and the people that play there. Courteous and respectful of pace of play. We caught a 4some and they let us play through. You don't see a lot of that happening from members anymore much less recreational golfers. Takes me 45 mins to get to the course and it's worth it everytime.

Played On 12/22/2019December golf!
December 22 and the course is in great shape. Fairways are brown but the greens are green. What more could you ask for in December? Lots of Christmas parties from houses that line the fairways adding to the festive time of year. Don't miss out!

Played On 11/25/2019Tough, but fun
First time playing at this course. Cart path only this day so it made the pace a little slower than I like but it was such a fun course I didn't mind the slower pace. Got paired up with the Superintendent's parents and couldn't have asked for a better group to golf with. Course was in great shape and the staff was almost able to keep up with all the fallen leaves on the fairways. Greens were still a little bumpy but not terrible. The only negative I can say for this course is that they don't sell any cigars at the shop...luckily my playing partner brought some. Highly recommend this course and if you can play a round with the superintendent's parents. They will surely keep you laughing and distracted if you're having an off day.

Played On 11/07/2019Never disappoints
As usual, this course never disappoints. Greens were like putting on glass but that didn't take away from the fun. I even got on my dreaded 18th hole in 2 to top off a perfect day of golf. Staff is always top-notch and friendly. And no matter when I sign up to play, I'm always with some really nice people. If they would consider a first-responder rate for a membership, I would join in a second! Definitely playing there again!
The Highlands does offer a discount in membership for Military and Service Personnel!!!

Great golf course for all skill levels. Short enough to challenge par 5s but long enough to keep things interesting. Staff couldn't be friendlier and the course has a great replay rate if you want to play 36 - which is what we did. I look forward to seeing the improvements this course goes through in the upcoming years. Highly recommended.

Played On 05/02/2014Don't waste your time.......and money
This course IS HORRIBLE! This used to be a nice course but has totally gone to the dogs. There are NO fairways. You tee off in the box, and then you hit into a yard. No distinction between the rough and a fairway. You are literally playing in a horribly kept yard. No driving range as advertised. This was a waste of my money. Greens were mediocre at best. Bugs everywhere so bring your bug spray. Poor food and drink selection. Don't bother driving on the cart paths because the grass is smoother. Please just close this place and let it be tuned into the pasture you call fairways. Poor, poor, poor. I wish there was a NO star rating.
