Prospective Member...Nope

Played as a prospective member. Nothing was very impressive other than layout.

When I first pulled in, there was at least 4 acres of dirt piled 100 feet high in the parking lot. At first I thought, oh maybe the course is being renovated...nope. According to some members in the bar, been that way all summer and no one knows where dirt is coming from.

Anyways, figured I would drop my clubs off and head to the range...nope. Range was closed because of rain (though it hadn’t rained in a few days) and there were giant logs scattered all over the range. Target practice?

Course was cart path only (which, again, was odd since it hadn’t rained in a few days). Course layout was great but rough was a foot high in spots. I guess we’re playing the US Open. My poor wife couldn’t even advance the ball.

Some major issues on 11, 12 and 17. 11 and 17 have sea walls that are literally collapsing. Looks like they’ve lost 6 feet of dirt in spots. On 12, a pipe was leaking that completely flooded the tee. My wife actually had to tee off from the fairway.

The dues they quoted us were $595 per month (plus fees and minimums), so I estimated roughly $20k per year. Just couldn’t see the value given course conditions. We ended up joining Royal Melbourne, which has been great.
