St. Margaret's Golf and Country Club
Played On 07/06/2019Serious course
Serious course for serious golfers. Too tough for average golfer hence the slow play. Greens a bit crusty and bumpy and Sandy. Almost as if they are trying to make them fast when the grass isn't able for it.
Typical municipal bunkers. Lots of footprints and badly raked but loads of sand.
Great value for money.
This could be the best course is Dublin if more were spent maintaining it. But it is just a public golf course and as long as players remember that they'll not be too unhappy.
There seem to be enough staff there to deal with slow play but ......
It's not easy to tell highly muscled tattooed lads to hurry up!
Clontarf Golf Club
Played On 03/16/2019Short, tight, slow, pretentious, boring,
Perfect for old men and beginners who know no better. Deteriorated hugely over the last twenty years. Greens are slow and diseased. Pace of play in excess of five hours.
Some very strange, very angry members who made us feel very unwelcome.
There are much better options so this place should be avoided unless you want to experience an exceptionally tiny golf course that should have been converted into social housing a long time ago.
Sutton Golf Club
Played On 10/11/2018Tight and quirky
Most golfers only play Sutton when they have to, e.g., inter club matches. It doesn't feel like a golf course at all with some very strange holes, blind shots, makey uppy dog legs, hidden bunkers, silly tight fairways, etc. It has out of bounds on nearly every hole.
All that is memorable about Sutton is the view.
