Rolling Oaks at World Woods Golf Club
Played On 08/15/2018Just wet
Pretty disappointed to find out all the practice facilities minus the iron range and two putting greens by the first tees were closed. Raining when i got there so course was soaked. Would have chosen another course closer to me like the LPGA Jones course which has similar practice grounds had i known about the former things. Despite being wet, course was gourgeous. Fairways were deep green and full, greens were fast and rolled true. No aerification holes whatsoever. Scenery and elevation changes were superb. Will totally come back again when it's dry, but I'm calling ahead next time to make sure everything is open so i don't make the same mistake twice. All in all, 3/5.
Rolling Oaks at World Woods Golf Club

I dont get a whole lot of time off, so I'm pretty picky about where I choose to go play. A good practice facility, nice scenery, and a well maintained course are all a must. So based off what reviews I read about Rolling Oaks it sounded perfect. I booked a tee time in the early afternoon so i could have ample time to practice before my round. I showed up at about 9 am, only to find it pouring rain. I went inside the pro shop and waited about 20 min for the rain to let up and in the meantime paid for my tee time and got some rain gloves. While in the proshop talking to the gentleman behind the counter i mentioned looking forward to the practice areas they had and i was told they're the best around. I grabbed my cart to head out only to be told by the Ranger that all the practice grounds were closed for topdressing. The 4 teebox range, the short course, the 2 acre putting green, and the 3 hole course, all closed. A huge disappointment. 50% of the reason I chose this course was for that reason, but i decided to stay and play in the soggy conditions anyway since i drove over 90 minutes to get there. 9 holes were cart path only, so it was pretty wet. However, the layout, the scenery, and despite the wetness, the course was in beautiful shape. A few deadspots on a few greens but otherwise superb. The greens rolled true and fast just the way they should. Fairways were full and flawless. Rough wasnt too long, pretty manageble if you missed the fairway. The oak lined fairways, the elevation changes, the undulated greens were all beautiful. It really does remind you of Augusta. Again it was pretty wet out there but it's Florida, it rains every day during summer. Ill definitely come play here again, granted the practice areas are open and it hasn't rained recently. I guess I'll just call next time to make sure none of the grounds are under maintenance.
