Over priced

Pretty disappointed. This was our first time playing a TPC course and found it a bit of a let down. At $200 a person, we expected the greens to be in better shape and there to be sand in the bunkers. This is a $70 course. Save your $$$.

Played the course on November 15 and was appalled at the condition of the greens. Absolutely horrible and the worst desert greens I have ever

Challenging but fair.

Beautiful course in great shape. I would think it would be tough for beginners. Lots of elevation changes. Green were recently sanded and very fair.

One of the beat values in the area.

Course is fantastic. Conditions were perfect. Bunkers actually have sand. Can be challenging when the wind picks up. Play the practice holes to get warmed up.

Tight course lined with condos.

This track is tight and short. Driver is not needed and unless you are very straight can only get you in trouble. IMHO this course is a $40 course built between the highway and Ski Copper.

Simply amazing.

I've played a ton of golf around the U.S. and in Mexico and this course is a top 2 track. Unbelievable layout that is breathtaking the entire time. I've played a couple other 'Mountain' courses, nothing to compare this to. It's worth the price. Can't wait to go back. It rained on us for 4 out of the 18 and we still had an incredible day.

Packed on a Sunday

Indian makes likes to pack them in. While it seemed like a long round it took 4 hours on a Sunday afternoon. We waited on every teebox. Course was in good shape.

Hot this time of the year!

We teed off at 8 and finished by a little after 12 on the dunes - jungle course covered in sweat. It was really warm and humid this time of year (end of July). The course forces you to play conservative. Big hitters must be very accurate. Greens are very fair and I never saw a ball mark. We rented clubs (Callaway razor x) and I wish the set included a 56 and 60 wedge. These clubs were needed to stop the ball on the greens. Bring you own balls. I paid $20 for 12 shag balls at the pro shop. One would think if a person paid the full greens fee and rental price of clubs they may throw in a sleeve of balls. Next time I will bring my own clubs and be better prepared. Nice food restaurant and good drinks in the bar. Have fun this proved to be a good break from the beach and pool crowd.

Beautiful course, staff attitude is a minus

Simply but this course is beautiful. So are quite a few others in the area (Bass Lake, Pinewood, etc). The other courses are priced a little more reasonably and the attitude of the staff at Northwoods make them better deals in my opinion. That being said, I still make it a point to deal the attitude of the staff buck-up a little extra and play this classic. This course is a must if you are in the area. I would take time to check out the other two mentioned above as well. The are equally as unique and a little less difficult.

Good but much better nearby

Decent course but nothing special. Ridiculous prices on food and beverages. $23 for two hot dogs, chips an a beer with Pepsi. Course was in good shape although the homes are close to the fairways. This course is tighter than the others we played in Phoenix.

Over priced for a trashed muni

Course was in rough shape. Weeds and dirt patches are standard fair here. I paid way too much for the 'Sunday prime' rate. This is a $25 course. Pluses were great shape to greens. Multiple tiers and undulations were the only redemptions to the experience although the greens were rock hard. Plenty of much better value courses nearby for that reason I will not return.

Great shape but really cold

Golfing in November in Chicago is going to be cold. I knew that going in. I was surprised at how well maintained Arrowhead was at this time of the year. For $10 for 9 holes w/a cart, I couldn't resist.
However this review is more about arrowhead in general...During the summer this course gets pounded. The park district is proud of this course and charges accordingly and packs them in. It is worth a try if you can go off-peak but otherwise plan on waiting. Slow and expensive is typical of public golf in Chicago but Arrowhead at least provides a beautiful course. I must say one of the rangers rushed us and came up to us to tell us we were 'way out of position' when we were 1/2 a shot back. I think he expected us to be waiting to hit EVERY shot that day. We mentioned it to the club staff and they promptly displayed a 'I don't give a care' attitude. Don't be one minute last or walking up to the first tee when you book your tee time. You will be reminded about how busy the course is and how most people wait on-deck to line up and play. Like I said, I will only go to Arrowhead when I catch it on a steal of a deal and during off-peak hours. Playing during prime time and paying full freight, no thanks. The clubhouse has incredible food and good beer. The wait staff in the clubhouse is totally different than the golf crew. Have fun and enjoy a well maintained course.

Target golf in a subdivison

The course feels short. A driver is needed for maybe 1 or 2 holes. The undulating protected greens were in great shape. I would go back a few times a year but it seems pretty far out west for most of Chicago. The houses that lined the course were close but surprisingly were not in the way of the occasional errant shot. Sunday golf in Chicago can be long. However, the pace of play seemed tolerable. Lots of rangers keeping things moving. This was appreciated.

Target golf at it's finest

This beautiful links style course can be challenging for the errant golfer. Make sure you can hit to targeted landing areas and you will enjoy your round. Fairways are littered with mounds and I never found a flat spot anywhere but I'm a 18 handicapper. Course was in great shape but as mentioned there was grass growing in the sand bunkers! I'll be back...when I am better.

Beautiful course on the ridges overlooking San Antonio

Incredible course, friendly staff and good food in the resort dining area. La Cantera is a $50 cab ride from downtown on a golf now deal it is very worth it. The course looks intimidating but plays very friendly. Even for the mid to high handicapper. If I come back I will definitely make sure to play these courses again.
