Venetian Golf Club
Played On 08/12/2015Members very rude and some staff too.
Several members would not talk or acknowledge your presence. Rudest members I have ever encountered by far. Starter and greeters were a little rude too.
Called day before and Pro Shop said course was perfect but when I arrived the greens had been severely verticut. One of the roughest example of this I have ever seen.
The course itself is above average and I enjoyed it well enough. However, this rating of 4.8 is not understandable to me at all. I give the course a 4.0 to 4.1. Much lower if you count how we were treated and misinformed.
Venetian Golf Club
Played On 08/12/2015Treated poorly. Above average course. Lied to about condition of Greens.
Please read my other reviews if you think this review is harsh. I am usually not this way.
1. Called about course conditions and was not told about severe verticutting of greens the day before. Greens looked rough and lost about 20-30 % of their proper roll. I might still have played if they told me but not being told was dishonest and very disappointing after a 90 minute drive.
2. Treated less than well by the starter and bag receiving personnel. Pro shop staff was amiable.
3. Treated the poorest I have ever been at any golf course or country club by the members. Many would not even acknowledge your presence or return a hello or wave. Amazing rudeness.
4. I mildly enjoyed the golf course. Ample fairways, some water but no swamps, not many trees, room to play on most holes. Nice but not visually impressive very often. Have no idea where the 4.8 rating came from. 4.1 in my book. World Woods (Brooksville), Southern Dunes (Haines City) and a dozen high end courses in Orlando are superior in many ways. These places are always worth the trip.
Grand Cypress Golf Club - Links Course
Played On 06/07/2015Terrific and unique golf course
The New Course was in great condition, tons of room for tee shots. challenging greens. Practice your long putts and precision chipping before you go if you expect to save strokes in the short game. Did I say great condition? Yes., an beautiful!. You should get their free app for your cell phone and study a bit before going or buy the course picture book in the club house. Lots of pot bunkers but we went in them very seldom. You have many choices on how to play most of the holes. That alone makes me want to return several times. You can just blast away and take what you get or think your way around the course. Bunkers often in middle of fairway but ample fairways on both sides. This is just a totally unique layout with many shared greens like the Old Course at St. Andrews. Probably be a little slow the first time you play because some holes don't have cart paths except around tees and greens(which it great also). Sunday afternoon the course was wide open even with beautiful weather. I can usually remember most every detail about a course after the first time playing it. It will take me 3 more times to take it all in. Our whole group of 4 only lost two balls. Nice day of golf it was well worth the 90 minute drive.
Pine Barrens at World Woods Golf Club
Played On 07/12/2014Fantastic
This course and Rolling Oaks are fantastic. If anyone ever complains about this course they must be members at Augusta. I like everyhting about both courses and I am fussy. I am semi-local and only play a couple other public courses in the Tampa Bay area.
The Eagles Golf Club - Forest
Played On 05/25/2014Great municipal course
Great municipal course but no drinking water on course. Most holes are tight but fairways and greens are in very good condition. Some areas of tees are chewed up due to lots of play.
Bardmoor Golf & Tennis Club
Played On 05/22/2014Always in good condition
This course is always in good condition. You have to play well to score well on this course but it's not tricked up. Greens are firly big and roll nice around 9/10 on the stimp. Fairwyas are nice and most tees are in good shape. (Some are not very level.)
Wentworth Golf Club
Played On 05/18/2014Nice course but very little sand in bunkers.
Nice tight course but very little sand in bunkers. Doesn't drain water real well but always in good condition under usual conditions.
Wentworth Golf Club
Played On 05/07/2014Course in good shape!
Course is in very good shape. My only disappointment is that there is just a thin layer of sand in the bunkers.
Cove Cay Golf Club
Played On 02/02/2014Very poor condition
Very poor condition. Fairways and greens ragged. Very tight and short. Couple decent holes only. First they had no cart. Had to wait 20 minutes. Slowest round of golf I have played in my life. At one time there were 3 groups playing a par five and two groups waiting. People I played with said its always this slow on weekends. Would not return if it was free.
